ICLDEC shifts Zayed Sports City clinic to West Yas to widen diabetes and endocrinology care
Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre, part of M42’s Outpatient Care division, has moved its Zayed Sports City branch to West Yas to improve access, facilities and specialist services for Abu Dhabi residents.
The Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre (ICLDEC), operating under M42’s Outpatient Care division, has relocated its Zayed Sports City branch to a new purpose-designed facility in West Yas. The move is intended to enhance accessibility for Yas Island and neighbouring communities while broadening the centre’s clinical offering.
The new West Yas site will continue and expand ICLDEC’s work in diabetes care and endocrinology, introducing additional specialist clinics to provide a more comprehensive, coordinated service in a single location. Facilities have been planned to improve the patient journey and to create a more comfortable environment for consultations and follow-up care.
M42 has emphasised that continuity of care is a priority during the transition. Patients who currently attend the Zayed Sports City branch will be supported through the move to ensure ongoing access to their clinical teams and the specialist support they require.
Dr. Mai Al Jaber, Chief Executive Officer of M42’s Outpatient Care division, said the relocation reflects the division’s approach to evolving services around the needs of patients. She noted the West Yas centre will provide improved access and an expanded range of specialist diabetes and endocrinology services while maintaining the standards of care associated with ICLDEC.
The transfer comes as ICLDEC marks 20 years of delivering care in the UAE. Over two decades the centre has grown beyond its original focus on diabetes to incorporate a wider range of endocrine and related specialist services in response to changing healthcare needs.
By situating the service in West Yas, ICLDEC and M42 aim to strengthen care pathways for people with diabetes and endocrine conditions across Abu Dhabi, offering a single site where patients can receive coordinated assessment, treatment and follow-up. The relocation is presented as the next phase in the centre’s development, intended to support both routine management and more specialised clinical work.
Further practical details on appointment transfers, patient communications and service hours during the move have been highlighted as part of the continuity arrangements; patients are being contacted directly by the centre about how the change will affect their care.
