Khalifa University and AWS Launch Data Centre Excellence Initiative

Khalifa University of Science and Technology has entered into a significant collaboration with Amazon Web Services to advance data centre engineering capabilities across the UAE. The agreement represents a strategic investment in developing the skilled workforce essential to the nation’s expanding digital infrastructure sector.
Under the partnership, students will access an AWS-supplied data centre training rack alongside AWS Academy’s Data Center Engineering Operations curriculum, delivered by Khalifa University’s faculty. This distinctive blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical experience prepares graduates for careers in one of the world’s most dynamic technology fields.
The programme, led by the Computer and Information Engineering Department, will initially serve students within that faculty, with plans to extend opportunities to those studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Top-performing participants will be considered for work experience positions at AWS facilities within the UAE, subject to the company’s standard recruitment protocols.
Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri, President of Khalifa University, emphasised the initiative’s strategic importance: “Digital infrastructure is only as strong as the talent behind it. As the UAE continues to expand its leadership in Data Centre domains, artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, investing in future-ready talent becomes a national priority.” He underscored the university’s commitment to developing graduates who combine academic rigour with practical industry experience, positioning them to contribute meaningfully to the data centre industry and the broader digital economy.
