UAE Team’s Elisa Longo Borghini Captures World Mixed Relay Gold for Italy

The accomplished cyclist claimed victory at the UCI Road World Championships in Montreal, adding to her remarkable record of appearances at the prestigious competition.

Elisa Longo Borghini, competing for UAE Team, secured the gold medal for Italy in the Mixed Relay Team Time Trial at the UCI Road World Championships held in Montreal, Canada. The Italian squad demonstrated exceptional pace and coordination over the challenging 40.6-kilometre course, crossing the finish line eight seconds ahead of France, who claimed the silver medal. Switzerland completed the podium, finishing 20 seconds behind the victorious Italian team.

The competition showcased the depth of UAE Team’s roster, with two additional riders representing the squad. Paula Blasi concluded the event in sixth position whilst competing for Spain, finishing 1 minute and 11 seconds behind the champions. Dominika Wlodarczyk, the third UAE Team representative, placed eighth for Poland, 1 minute and 49 seconds adrift of the winning time.

Beyond the immediate success of the mixed relay victory, this championship marked a historic milestone for Longo Borghini.
