The 11th edition of Sharjah's beloved seasonal celebration concludes with extraordinary attendance, reinforcing its status as the Emirates' premier destination for premium local dates and agricultural produce.
The 11th edition of the Souq Al Jubail Dates Festival has concluded its three-month engagement at the celebrated Sharjah marketplace, drawing more than 1.131 million visitors and reaffirming its position as an essential seasonal destination for the Emirates.
The festival has become integral to the region’s calendar of cultural and commercial events, uniting an extensive array of UAE-grown dates alongside seasonal produce whilst providing substantial support to participating traders and affording a comprehensive showcase of the nation’s diverse date varieties.
This year’s edition benefited from robust participation across both established vendors within the market and external exhibitors, collectively presenting visitors with an impressive selection of premium-quality fresh dates. The varied offerings ensured shoppers enjoyed expanded choice alongside a curated experience befitting the distinctive character of the dates season.
Abdullah Al Shamsi, Senior Manager of Sharjah Markets, observed that the exceptional attendance underscores Souq Al Jubail’s significance as a principal shopping destination for those seeking authentic local products during this important period. “We prioritised delivering a comprehensive range of merchandise whilst creating expanded commercial opportunities for traders and participants to engage with a substantially broader audience,” he noted. “This approach simultaneously supported commercial vitality and enhanced the overall visitor experience.”
Commenting further on the festival’s contribution to the community, Al Shamsi explained that Souq Al Jubail remains dedicated to cultivating seasonal events responsive to contemporary shopping preferences and aligned with the UAE’s agricultural and food production cycles. “The Dates Festival exemplifies this commitment, combining advocacy for locally produced goods, opportunities for commercial participants and a shopping experience genuinely meeting community requirements. This philosophy was manifestly reflected in the exceptional attendance levels we achieved this year.”
Beyond mere commercial activity, the festival provided an invaluable platform celebrating the remarkable diversity of Emirates-cultivated dates, offering the public access to numerous distinctive varieties whilst supporting vendors and participants during a particularly significant season for agricultural and food product market engagement.
Souq Al Jubail continues developing and implementing seasonal events and initiatives that invigorate market activity, provide visitors with varied experiences and strengthen its standing as both a commercial and community hub within Sharjah. As a project of Sharjah Asset Management, the investment division of the Government of Sharjah, the marketplace remains committed to fostering sustainable commercial growth and community enrichment.
