Dubai T100 Triathlon draws 2,000 elite athletes from across the globe
The third edition of Dubai's premier triathlon event welcomes competitors from 57 nations, with a new Olympic-distance category and relocated venue promising an expanded celebration of endurance sport.
Dubai is set to host one of the world’s most distinguished triathlon competitions this November, as over 2,000 athletes from 57 nationalities prepare for the third edition of the Dubai T100 Triathlon Weekend. Taking place from 13th to 15th November at Al Mamzar, the event marks a significant evolution in scale and scope for one of the sporting calendar’s most anticipated fixtures.
Supported by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Dubai Sports Council, the relocation to Al Mamzar represents a milestone for the competition. The unified venue provides an elegant solution for hosting the entire race weekend, enhancing the experience for both competitors and spectators alike. Notably, more than a third of registered participants have previously competed in the event, underscoring its growing appeal amongst the global triathlon community.
This year’s innovation centres on expanded participation options. For the first time, the amateur programme introduces an Olympic-distance category comprising a 1.5-kilometre swim, 40-kilometre cycling segment and 10-kilometre run. Relay formats are available across both Olympic and Sprint distances, democratising access to world-class competition. The Sprint distance features a 750-metre swim, 20-kilometre bike ride and 5-kilometre run, whilst the demanding 100-kilometre race encompasses a 2-kilometre swim, 80-kilometre cycling leg and 18-kilometre run.
Sam Renouf, Chief Executive of the Professional Triathletes Organisation, highlighted how the registration figures demonstrate the event’s strengthening momentum. The professional competition will showcase twenty of the world’s leading female triathletes, competing under the revised T100 format which sees the Dubai race contested exclusively by women this year. This strategic choice celebrates female excellence in endurance sport as the T100 Race to Qatar approaches its conclusion, with the combined men’s and women’s professional fields subsequently converging for the World Championship Final in Doha from 10th to 12th December.
Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of Dubai Sports Council, emphasised the event’s significance within Dubai’s sporting landscape. The Dubai T100 has established itself as an indispensable fixture on the international calendar, with the Al Mamzar location showcasing another distinctive area of the emirate to international audiences. The event complements the tenth edition of Dubai Fitness Challenge, running from 31st October to 29th November under the inspirational 30×30 initiative, combining world-class professional competition with accessible participation opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.
Organisers are actively encouraging greater participation amongst Emirati women and girls across all categories. Spectator entry to Al Mamzar throughout the race weekend will be complimentary, welcoming the broader community to witness elite athletic performance.
