MBRIF and Dubai Future District Fund forge partnership to accelerate UAE startup growth

A strategic collaboration between two leading investment funds aims to streamline access to capital and support for high-potential entrepreneurs across the Emirates

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Fund (MBRIF), established by the Ministry of Finance to nurture the UAE’s innovation and entrepreneurship landscape, has entered into a significant partnership with the Dubai Future District Fund (DFDF). This collaboration seeks to create expanded pathways for promising startups whilst fostering greater integration within the nation’s innovation ecosystem.

The partnership operates through a reciprocal referral mechanism designed to connect enterprises with tailored opportunities at critical growth stages. MBRIF member companies will receive introductions to DFDF’s extensive network of fund managers, positioning eligible organisations to access institutional capital as they advance. Conversely, DFDF portfolio companies will be directed towards MBRIF’s comprehensive programmes, support instruments and federal channels where appropriate.

Fatima Yousif Alnaqbi, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for Support Services Sector at the Ministry of Finance and MBRIF representative, underscored the partnership’s significance: “The UAE has built a strong foundation for innovation by bringing together government, industry, investors and entrepreneurs around a shared ambition for sustainable economic growth. This partnership reflects MBRIF’s role in strengthening those connections and supporting a more integrated national innovation ecosystem. Closer collaboration between federal and emirate-level institutions will help create an environment where innovative businesses can develop, scale and contribute to the UAE’s long-term economic priorities.”

The initiative aligns seamlessly with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) and the We the UAE 2031 vision, both of which prioritise competitive advantage, innovation and sustainable economic development. By eliminating the need for entrepreneurs to navigate federal and Dubai-level support mechanisms independently, the partnership promises to deliver more efficient pathways to essential resources.

Nader Albastaki, Managing Director of the Dubai Future District Fund, highlighted the practical benefits: “Founders should not have to navigate federal and Dubai-level support separately. Through this partnership, MBRIF companies gain a route into our fund manager network and to investors who can back their next stage, and our portfolio gains access to MBRIF’s support instruments. Both sides get a shorter route to what they need.”

The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the UAE’s entrepreneurial landscape through enhanced connectivity, improved access to expertise and expanded opportunities for innovative businesses with genuine growth potential. It represents an important step towards creating a more cohesive and supportive environment for the nation’s emerging ventures.
