Leading healthcare provider Burjeel Holdings has enhanced its cardiovascular intervention capabilities with state-of-the-art artificial intelligence technology at facilities in two emirates.
Burjeel Holdings has marked a significant advancement in interventional cardiology by introducing AI-powered Cath Labs at Burjeel Hospital Abu Dhabi and Burjeel Specialty Hospital in Sharjah. The deployment represents a substantial investment in diagnostic and therapeutic precision across the healthcare group’s network.
The new facilities are equipped with Siemens Healthineers’ ARTIS icono.vision platform, a sophisticated system that harnesses artificial intelligence alongside high-definition imaging, advanced three-dimensional visualisation and real-time procedural guidance. This integration affords physicians substantially enhanced clarity when navigating complex cardiovascular anatomy, particularly during technically demanding interventions.
Configured as multidisciplinary facilities, these Cath Labs serve diverse specialties including Interventional Cardiology, Structural Heart Services, Vascular Surgery, Interventional Radiology, Neurointerventional Procedures and additional disciplines requiring image-guided procedures. The technological infrastructure supports an expansive range of clinical applications, from complex coronary interventions and chronic total occlusion procedures to structural heart interventions, peripheral vascular therapies, embolisation procedures, interventional oncology treatments and advanced aortic repairs.
A distinctive feature of the platform is OPTIQ AI, which employs artificial intelligence-based analysis of live imaging data to dynamically adjust imaging parameters and automatically reduce background noise in real time. This sophisticated capability enables clinicians to maintain exceptional image quality whilst operating at remarkably low radiation doses, embodying the ALARA principle—keeping radiation exposure as low as reasonably achievable whilst preserving diagnostic image quality throughout procedures.
The platform delivers technical specifications of considerable precision, including full 200-degree rotational three-dimensional imaging, rapid three-dimensional acquisitions, flexible ceiling-rail positioning and system positioning accuracy exceeding 0.5 millimetre. These capabilities grant physicians substantially greater flexibility when managing complex interventions requiring exacting spatial control.
