Dubai’s Sports Community Unites for Ahmed bin Rashid Humanitarian Bridge Initiative
Members of Dubai's sporting establishment have joined a significant humanitarian effort to prepare over 10 million meals for Gaza, honouring the legacy of the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Dubai’s vibrant sports community has rallied to support the ‘Ahmed bin Rashid Humanitarian Bridge’ initiative, a meaningful tribute to the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Organised by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives in partnership with Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, the humanitarian programme brought together members of the sporting fraternity at the Dubai World Trade Centre to prepare meals destined for the people of Gaza.
The substantial participation from Dubai’s sports sector underscores the profound respect and appreciation for Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid’s formative role in developing sport throughout Dubai and the wider UAE. His influence shaped the emirate’s sporting infrastructure and institutions for generations.
A Legacy of Sporting Achievement
Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid’s contributions to the UAE’s sporting landscape were considerable and enduring. He founded Al Wasl Club, which flourished to become one of Dubai’s premier sporting organisations. His vision extended further, encompassing the establishment of the Jebel Ali Racecourse in the early 1990s, whilst also launching the Al Adiyat Centre and the Dubai Horse Racing Centre. In 1988, he served as founding president of the Dubai International Marine Club, demonstrating his commitment to diversifying the emirate’s sporting portfolio across equestrian, maritime and football disciplines.

The Ahmed bin Rashid Humanitarian Bridge initiative extends beyond sport, reflecting the broader charitable commitment that characterised Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid’s lifetime.
