Emirates Scholar Centre and ICESCO Explore Research Collaboration with Uzbek Parliament
A delegation from leading UAE research institutions has met with Uzbekistan's parliamentary leadership to discuss deepening academic and cultural ties between the nations.
A high-level delegation from the Emirates Scholar Centre for Research and Studies and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) has held substantive discussions with Pardayev Azamat Kenjaboyevich, Member of the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan’s Parliament, regarding the future of bilateral research partnerships.
The visiting delegation, led by Dr. Firas Habbal, President of Emirates Scholar Centre for Research and Studies, and Salem Omar Salem, Director of the ICESCO Regional Office in Sharjah, explored mechanisms through which legislative institutions can foster environments conducive to academic and scientific cooperation. The discussions emphasised the instrumental role that parliament can play in facilitating university partnerships, establishing research collaborations and removing administrative barriers to joint scholarly initiatives.
Pardayev welcomed the visit as a tangible expression of the enduring relationship between the UAE and Uzbekistan, underscoring Parliament’s commitment to broadening engagement with friendly nations across cultural and scientific domains. He articulated a foundational belief that knowledge exchange serves as a powerful catalyst for bringing societies closer together and fostering mutual understanding.
During the meeting, the delegation presented comprehensive overviews of ICESCO and Emirates Scholar Centre programmes spanning research, academic publishing and Arabic language education. Both parties engaged in constructive dialogue regarding avenues for strengthening bilateral relations at governmental and community levels, identifying opportunities for sustained institutional cooperation.
This visit forms part of a broader regional initiative whereby the delegation is convening with official and academic institutions throughout Uzbekistan. The mission seeks to promote Arab cultural understanding and expand Arabic language learning across Central and East Asia through the establishment of research partnerships, exchange of scholarly expertise and collaborative publishing ventures.
