Tadweer Group Brings ECORUN Outdoors to Hudayriyat Island
The inaugural outdoor edition of the popular community event promises an expanded experience combining fitness, environmental stewardship and sustainable living across three race categories.
Tadweer Group is set to unveil the first outdoor edition of ECORUN at Hudayriyat Island on 1 November 2026, expanding this celebrated community initiative beyond its successful indoor iterations. The event will feature three distinct race categories—3 km, 5 km and 10 km—alongside an AED 100,000 prize pool and complementary rewards designed to recognise participants’ commitment to active, sustainable living.
The expansion reflects the programme’s remarkable growth trajectory. The previous edition attracted over 740 participants representing more than 55 nationalities, demonstrating the universal appeal of initiatives promoting environmental consciousness and personal wellness. This outdoor iteration builds upon that momentum, introducing a more expansive experience that extends well beyond competitive running.
Abdulwahed Juma, Executive Director of Communications and Awareness at Tadweer Group, articulated the vision behind this evolution: the event represents a deliberate effort to transform environmental awareness into tangible action whilst advancing Abu Dhabi’s circular economy objectives.
The race structure accommodates diverse participation levels. The 5 km and 10 km categories operate as competitive races featuring professional chip timing and official results, with eligible competitors vying for prize pool allocation. The 3 km offering prioritises inclusivity, welcoming families, children, people of determination and participants of varying fitness abilities to participate at their preferred pace, whether walking, jogging or running.
The complimentary ECORUN Village extends the event’s reach beyond competitive runners. Open to the general public free of charge, this vibrant community space will host live entertainment, diverse family activities, partner activations and curated experiences centring on sustainability, health and wellbeing. Healthy food options and wellness sessions further reinforce the holistic approach to quality-of-life enhancement.
Environmental stewardship permeates every aspect of the event’s execution. Organisers have committed to utilising reusable, recycled and responsibly sourced materials throughout the programme. Dedicated waste-sorting and recycling stations will be established across the venue, whilst comprehensive measures to eliminate single-use plastics demonstrate Tadweer Group’s commitment to minimising the event’s ecological footprint.
The schedule reflects careful planning to maximise participation. The ECORUN Village opens at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, 1 November for registration and check-in. The 10 km race commences at 7:15 a.m., followed by the 5 km race at 7:20 a.m. and the 3 km fun run at 7:30 a.m., allowing sufficient spacing between categories whilst maintaining early morning conditions ideal for outdoor exercise.
