General Women’s Union and AD Ports Group Launch International Track of Digital Empowerment Programme

A pioneering initiative to build women's capabilities in artificial intelligence and the digital economy has expanded beyond national borders, bringing together participants from 12 countries in a landmark three-month training programme.
The General Women’s Union, in partnership with AD Ports Group, has inaugurated the international track of the ATLG training programme with its inaugural introductory session, convening 50 participants from 12 countries. This expansion represents a transformative moment in the programme’s evolution from a nationally-focused initiative into an international platform dedicated to advancing women’s participation in artificial intelligence and the digital economy.
Established under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, the international track builds upon the foundations laid by the original ATLG programme, launched in 2020 through the collaborative efforts of the General Women’s Union and AD Ports Group. Since its inception, ATLG has strengthened the participation of national talent in strategic and technology-driven sectors, and now extends this expertise to a global audience.
A Vision Transcending Borders
Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak articulated the philosophical underpinning of this expansion, stating: “When we believe in humanity, we believe that human energy is the true wealth of nations.” She emphasised that the launch of the international track represents a genuine translation of the United Arab Emirates’ developmental mission, grounded in the conviction that “knowledge grows and multiplies through sharing.”
“We have witnessed how the Emirati woman, through her hard work, determination, and the support of her leadership and homeland, has transformed into a pioneer and influencer in the most delicate and complex sectors,” Her Highness noted. “Today, as we extend this pioneering expertise to broader global horizons, we aim to deliver this ambitious spirit to every woman around the world.”
The programme’s international expansion directly translates the objectives of the Mother of the Nation 50:50 Vision into practical initiatives with impact extending well beyond the nation’s borders, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to fostering gender parity in future-oriented sectors.
Comprehensive Training Architecture
The training programme operates on an intensive schedule, spanning three months with five days of weekly instruction delivered remotely. The curriculum combines expert-led practical training, self-paced learning modules, structured mentoring, and specialised sessions conducted by industry practitioners.
The international track focuses on building future skills across artificial intelligence and digital technologies, enabling participants to develop practical digital solutions whilst bridging the critical skills gap in artificial intelligence. The structured curriculum progresses through several integrated stages: data and artificial intelligence fundamentals, programming and application development, digital design, cloud computing and digital solution deployment, cybersecurity and data protection, culminating in the development and presentation of applied solutions anchored to real-world business use cases.
Strategic Partnership and Industry Leadership
Her Excellency Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women’s Union, described the international track as “a new milestone in the journey of a programme that has proven its ability to evolve and respond to the rapid transformations in the future sectors.” She emphasised that the expansion enables the exchange of knowledge and expertise, building “a network of female talents capable of actively contributing to the global digital economy.”
Sultan Al Ghaithi, Chief Human Resources Officer at AD Ports Group, underscored the partnership’s strategic importance: “The international expansion of the ATLG program marks a qualitative leap in broadening the scope of investment in women’s capabilities worldwide. At AD Ports Group, we believe that empowering women extends beyond developing their skills to providing an environment that enables them to apply these skills in vital fields such as artificial intelligence, trade, and logistics.”
The programme’s evolution reflects the broader trajectory of ATLG, which commenced with four cohorts dedicated to Emirati women before expanding to encompass new tracks and categories, now culminating in this international phase aimed at enhancing women’s global presence in digital trade, logistics, and artificial intelligence.
