Dubai Ambulance Unveils Revolutionary SANAD Multi-Mission Emergency Vehicle
A groundbreaking off-road medical platform designed in Dubai makes its international debut at EMS World Expo, exemplifying Emirati innovation and technological excellence.
Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services has unveiled SANAD, a pioneering off-road, multi-mission emergency vehicle, at the EMS World Expo 2026 in Orlando, Florida. The vehicle, developed entirely within Dubai and displayed from 30th September to 2nd October at the Orange County Convention Centre, represents a significant advancement in emergency medical services capability.
SANAD has been engineered to operate in scenarios beyond the reach of conventional ambulances, combining robust off-road performance with a fully equipped medical cabin capable of delivering critical care. The platform serves diverse emergency requirements, from natural-disaster relief and mass-casualty incidents to search-and-rescue operations and routine medical emergencies, without sacrificing the sophisticated medical standards expected in modern acute care provision.
The vehicle accommodates up to 14 occupants, including two patients on stretchers, and integrates smart monitoring, real-time tracking and asset-management systems. Rather than functioning solely as a transport mechanism, SANAD operates as a self-sufficient medical post, substantially reducing response times in situations where every moment proves decisive.
The development of SANAD exemplifies the “Dubai-it” philosophy, an initiative introduced in 2026 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The vehicle emerged from collaborative engineering, with TORSUS providing the base platform, FERNO supplying patient-handling and equipment-mounting solutions, and specialist contributions from Bristol, Whelen, Acetech, UXE and Frestems.
Technical specifications include a permanent 4×4 platform with electronically adjustable air suspension, military-grade loading apparatus, integrated smart lighting, and advanced scene-surveillance and cabin-monitoring capabilities. These systems collectively establish SANAD as a comprehensive mobile medical facility.
Mishal Abdul Karim Julfar, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Ambulance, stated that the organisation has pursued a mission to deliver trusted, agile and proactive ambulance services, with SANAD representing a practical manifestation of this commitment achieved at remarkable speed. The vehicle addresses critical gaps in emergency response capability that conventional ambulances cannot bridge.
Dubai Ambulance’s participation at EMS World Expo, which convenes thousands of emergency medical services professionals and leaders from over 50 nations, seeks to demonstrate Emirati innovation to a global audience, establish partnerships with international EMS agencies and manufacturers, and build awareness of SANAD in advance of prospective future deployments and collaborative ventures.
