SEWA inaugurates major 33-kilovolt distribution station in Khorfakkan

The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority has completed a substantial energy infrastructure project to support the emirate's coastal tourism hub and surrounding communities.

The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has successfully completed construction of a principal 33-kilovolt distribution electricity station in Khorfakkan, marking a significant advancement in the emirate’s energy infrastructure capacity.

Developed at a total cost of AED35 million, the facility operates with a capacity of 60 Megavolt Ampere and has been strategically designed to serve multiple stakeholders across the region. The station provides dedicated electrical supply to the Khorfakkan Resort, ensuring reliable energy delivery for the comprehensive operations of this landmark destination. Beyond the resort, the infrastructure extends essential power distribution to surrounding urban areas whilst simultaneously supporting anticipated future development projects throughout the locality.

Engineer Saud Abdulaziz, Director of the Khorfakkan Department at SEWA, underscored the significance of the installation within the authority’s broader strategic framework. The project was executed in accordance with the most current approved technical specifications and international standards, guaranteeing operational excellence and sustainable electrical supply. The director emphasised that the station represents a qualitative enhancement to Khorfakkan’s energy ecosystem, positioning the network to address both present demand and anticipated future requirements with confidence.

The initiative reflects SEWA’s commitment to aligning infrastructure development with Khorfakkan’s emerging prominence as a premier tourism destination along the eastern coastal region.
