UAE Show Jumpers Advance to Second Round as Asian Games Campaign Concludes

All four of the UAE's equestrian athletes have secured progression to the individual final's second round at Aichi–Nagoya 2026, delivering the delegation's standout performances on the penultimate day of competition.
The United Arab Emirates’ show jumping contingent demonstrated exceptional prowess on Saturday, 3rd October, at the Asian Games in Aichi–Nagoya, with all four riders securing advancement to the second round of the individual final on Sunday.
Humaid Abdulla Khalifa Al Muhairi, mounted on “Mentos”, claimed third place after executing a faultless round in 76.21 seconds. His teammate Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi, riding “Hudson de Vains”, similarly achieved a clear performance to secure fifth position in 78.68 seconds over obstacles ranging from 1.45m to 1.50m in height.
The UAE’s female riders also impressed, with Sheikha Latifah Bint Ahmed Al Maktoum delivering a clear round aboard “Cornet XL” to finish fourth in 74.06 seconds over fences reaching 1.55m. Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi, riding “Enjoy De La Mure”, completed the quartet, placing seventh with four faults in 70.96 seconds.
The equestrian achievements were accompanied by notable performances across other disciplines. In jiu-jitsu, Aisha Al Jneibi produced a commanding 13–0 victory over Vietnam’s Ngo Thi Thao Van in the women’s under-63kg round of 32, whilst Abdullah Al Zubaidi and Marwa Al Hammadi represented the UAE admirably in sailing, securing seventh and sixth overall positions respectively in the ILCA 7 and ILCA 6 classes.
Zuhair Al Labbatt, Technical Director of the UAE Sailing and Modern Rowing Federation, expressed satisfaction with the team’s contributions throughout the Games. “We came very close to winning medals and our athletes delivered strong performances, despite some officiating decisions that we felt were unfair, as well as strong winds that affected the competition,” he remarked. “Nevertheless, we regard these as some of our best results, and we are pleased with the level shown by the team.”
Al Labbatt acknowledged the potential demonstrated by emerging talent such as Sultan Al Owais and praised Doha Al Beshr’s leadership during various stages of the competition before her eventual 10th-place finish. Looking forward, the federation remains confident in its athletes’ capacity to compete at the highest level, with ambitions extending beyond the current Games.
