SEHA’s Al Dhafra Family Medicine Centre Achieves American Heart Association Hypertension Certification

The centre has earned prestigious AHA recognition for its structured, evidence-based approach to hypertension management and cardiovascular risk reduction.
SEHA’s Al Dhafra Family Medicine Centre has received the American Heart Association’s Hypertension Practice Centre Certification, a significant acknowledgement of its comprehensive approach to managing high blood pressure and reducing cardiovascular risk across the region.
Hypertension represents one of the foremost risk factors contributing to heart disease and stroke, underscoring the critical importance of early diagnosis and consistent management in reducing cardiovascular complications. Through its newly certified programme, Al Dhafra Family Medicine Centre now delivers an integrated model of care encompassing ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, patient education, multidisciplinary follow-up, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
The certification recognises the centre’s commitment to delivering care aligned with international standards whilst strengthening prevention strategies, enhancing early detection capabilities, and empowering patients through education and long-term management support tailored to the Al Dhafra community.
Hamad Khamis Al Mansoori, Chief Executive Officer of SEHA Al Dhafra Hospitals, commented on the significance of this achievement, noting that the certification provides patients and families with assurance that hypertension management follows a structured, evidence-based framework emphasising early detection, informed self-management, and consistent clinical oversight. He emphasised that the certification enhances the region’s capacity to address cardiovascular risk whilst promoting sustained health improvements across the broader community.
Dr. Mariam Rashed Al Mehairbi, Chief Medical Officer of SEHA Al Dhafra Hospitals, described the certification as a milestone resulting from dedicated efforts by clinical and operational teams to strengthen hypertension care pathways and align practice with recognised international standards. She highlighted the centre’s commitment to continuous improvement in patient outcomes and community health.
Dr. Fawaz Jasim Mohammed, Consultant Family Medicine and Team Lead at SEHA Al Dhafra’s Family Medicine Centre, outlined the integrated approach underpinning the programme: combining accurate diagnosis with structured monitoring, patient education, and multidisciplinary support to help patients understand and manage their blood pressure whilst reducing long-term cardiovascular risk.
This achievement reflects SEHA’s broader commitment to advancing community-based chronic disease prevention and management throughout its integrated healthcare network. By bringing internationally recognised standards of care closer to communities across Abu Dhabi and the UAE, SEHA continues to enhance access to high-quality care and improve health outcomes for those it serves.
