Sharjah Ruler Opens New Education Academy Building

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi inaugurates purpose-built facilities designed to transform professional development and educational excellence across the emirates.
His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, officially opened the Sharjah Education Academy building on Sunday morning, unveiling a landmark facility dedicated to reshaping educational leadership and professional development across the region.
Located within University City, the Academy’s new home represents a significant departure from conventional educational spaces. The building embodies a human-centred vision that transcends traditional classroom models, weaving together academic rigour, collaborative research, meaningful interaction and structured professional advancement. This integrated approach aims to cultivate the next generation of educational professionals equipped to shape the future of learning in the United Arab Emirates.
Upon arrival, His Highness unveiled the commemorative plaque before conducting a comprehensive tour of the facilities. The building encompasses a thoughtfully curated range of educational, research and specialist services, complemented by dedicated spaces encouraging student engagement and fostering a vibrant academic community. Throughout the design, particular emphasis has been placed on creating an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and ensures equal opportunities for all learners.
The inaugural phase comprises classroom and training infrastructure tailored to accommodate diverse pedagogical approaches. Nine dedicated classrooms, each welcoming 25 students, provide collective capacity for 225 learners, whilst four specialised training halls, each accommodating 75 participants, offer flexibility for larger cohorts. An inclusive auditorium completes this educational ecosystem, providing an adaptable space for lectures, workshops and collaborative learning experiences.
The Academy’s commitment to accessibility became evident during His Highness’s briefing on comprehensive support systems for students with disabilities. Alongside these provisions, advanced technological infrastructure and intelligent building systems underpin the facility’s operations, ensuring seamless integration of modern innovation within the learning environment.
Administrative infrastructure, student services, learning resource facilities and support services have been carefully integrated throughout the building, creating a cohesive ecosystem supporting both academic achievement and holistic student wellbeing.
Future expansion plans underscore the Academy’s ambitious trajectory. The second phase will introduce an administrative building, trustees’ hall, multipurpose facilities, sports amenities and residential accommodation. A dedicated media studio, equipped for professional content creation, shall facilitate contemporary learning methodologies. A designated staff lounge will complete the comprehensive working environment, reflecting the institution’s recognition that educator wellbeing directly enhances educational quality.
