Emirates Jumping secures second silver medal as Asian Games campaign concludes

Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi and Hudson de Vains claimed individual silver in a thrilling jump-off at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, capping a successful tournament for the UAE's equestrian team.

Emirates Jumping concluded its campaign at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 with a second silver medal on Sunday, as Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi and Hudson de Vains emerged victorious from a dramatic three-way jump-off at JRA Equestrian Park. This achievement complemented the team’s silver medal secured earlier in the week, demonstrating the strength and consistency of the UAE’s equestrian programme.

All four combinations representing Emirates Jumping progressed to their individual finals, with performances reflecting months of dedicated preparation. Humaid Abdulla Khalifa Al Muhairi and Mentos finished fourth in Competition A, whilst Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi and Enjoy de la Mure secured sixth place. Sheikha Latifah Bint Ahmed Al Maktoum and Cornet XL concluded their campaign in seventh position within the newly introduced 1.55m Competition B.

The decisive jump-off saw Abdullah deliver an outstanding clear round aboard the nine-year-old Hudson de Vains over the 1.50m course. His competitive instincts led him to increase his pace during the jump-off, resulting in a time of 41.93 seconds but unfortunately a fault at a challenging oxer. Nonetheless, this proved sufficient for the silver medal, as both Qatar’s Faleh Alajmi and Saudi Arabia’s Khaled Almobty encountered fences at the decisive moments.

Abdullah reflected with satisfaction on his performance and his young horse’s potential. He expressed pride in Hudson’s progress throughout the season, noting the nine-year-old’s developing scope, temperament and quality. The experienced rider acknowledged that competitive instinct occasionally overrides strategy, accepting the unpredictability inherent in the sport.

Humaid’s fourth-place finish represented encouraging progress with another nine-year-old making his championship debut. Three clear rounds throughout the week indicated that Mentos possesses considerable promise for future international competitions.

In Competition B, Omar delivered an excellent clear round aboard Enjoy de la Mure over the demanding 1.55m course, comfortably meeting the time allowance to secure sixth place overall. Sheikha Latifah and Cornet XL, carrying zero faults into Sunday’s final round, encountered two obstacles but maintained their determined commitment throughout.

The week concluded with two silver medals and all four combinations finishing among the top ten in their respective individual competitions, reflecting the calibre and dedication of the UAE’s equestrian talent.
