A Day of Discovery: 421 Arts Campus Celebrates Family and Creativity

There exists a particular magic in those small, unguarded moments when a child’s curiosity unfolds, when tiny hands shape clay into something entirely their own, or when a story read aloud opens a door to wonder. On 21 November, 421 Arts Campus creates space for precisely these moments, gathering families for a day devoted to creativity, discovery and the connections that bind generations together.

The day begins with a guided tour of the current exhibition Archipelago of Whispers, led by curators Deniz Kirkali and Elham Puriya Mehr. Their expertise shapes the experience, offering insight into the layers of meaning and visual poetry within the work. From there, the day unfolds through a series of hands-on activities designed for young minds and the adults who accompany them. Families craft musical instruments from found materials, exploring sound and rhythm. Clay becomes a medium for investigating the natural world. In the reading corner, children encounter stories in both Arabic and English, discovering narrative across languages.

The day draws its philosophical anchor from Early Childhood Week’s theme: Every Moment Matters. This approach honours the quiet significance of early creative play, recognising that the small acts of making, exploring and sharing shape a child’s developing relationship with the world around them.

Sustenance comes in the form of lunch provided throughout the day, alongside the simple pleasures of popcorn, slushies and cotton candy. Entry is free, and the day welcomes families and children of all ages, from the very young to those slightly older, each finding something to engage them.

The day is realised with the support of Early Starters, Titter Totter and artist Alice Visentin. Registration takes place through 421 Arts Campus’s online channels.
