Abu Dhabi Hosts Arab Monetary Fund’s Golden Jubilee and Finance Ministers’ Summit

The emirate welcomes leaders from across the Arab world for a historic gathering celebrating five decades of financial cooperation and exploring the future of regional economic integration.

Abu Dhabi will host two significant gatherings tomorrow as the Arab financial community convenes to mark a defining moment in regional economic history. The Golden Jubilee celebration of the Arab Monetary Fund, coupled with the 17th Ordinary Session of the Council of Arab Finance Ministers, represents a confluence of institutional milestone and strategic dialogue under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Organised by the Ministry of Finance alongside the Arab Monetary Fund, the events unite under the theme “Fifty Years of Arab Financial Cooperation… Together Towards a More Integrated Arab Financial Future”. This gathering brings together Arab finance ministers and representatives of regional and international financial institutions to strengthen economic resilience and address contemporary global challenges.

H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, underscored the significance of these proceedings. He noted that celebrating the Arab Monetary Fund’s half-century milestone whilst convening high-level ministerial meetings reflects the leadership’s commitment to advancing joint Arab action and providing an inclusive regional platform that reinforces financial stability.

“Tomorrow’s meeting represents an important opportunity to reaffirm our shared commitment to strengthening financial cooperation and supporting economic stability across the region,” Sheikh Maktoum affirmed. He emphasised the importance of dialogue in enabling Arab economies to respond effectively to global economic shifts whilst supporting fiscal policies that promote sustainable and inclusive growth.

The celebration programme will feature a documentary chronicling the Arab Monetary Fund’s key milestones and achievements across five decades, followed by a special recognition ceremony honouring the founders and entities that have shaped the institution’s development trajectory.

The Council’s 17th Ordinary Session will examine comprehensive reports from the Council Secretariat alongside specialised presentations addressing contemporary financial priorities. The Arab Monetary Fund will present on artificial intelligence applications in fiscal policy and public finance assessments across Arab countries. The World Bank Group will discuss sustainable financing mechanisms for infrastructure development, whilst the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development will address international tax developments relating to Base Erosion and Profit Shifting.

Coordination of a unified Arab position towards international financial institutions will also feature prominently in discussions, reflecting the collective commitment to advancing regional financial interests on the global stage.
