Abu Dhabi Hosts Global Forum on Green Energy and Artificial Intelligence Innovation

Khalifa University and the Technology Innovation Institute bring together leading researchers and experts to advance sustainable energy solutions and harness AI for tomorrow's challenges.
Abu Dhabi has established itself as a nexus of global research excellence with the co-hosting of the 18th International Green Energy Conference and the 7th International Conference on Energy and AI. Taking place from 4 to 8 October 2026 at W Abu Dhabi on Yas Island, these prestigious gatherings represent a significant convergence of scientific endeavour and technological innovation.
The initiative, jointly organised by Khalifa University of Science and Technology and the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) under the auspices of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council, has attracted more than 140 research papers for presentation. This multidisciplinary platform draws together researchers, industry specialists, policymakers, educators and students across disciplines encompassing clean energy, artificial intelligence, water management, economics and policy.
Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri, President of Khalifa University, emphasised the significance of bridging scientific discovery with practical application. “The future of energy will be shaped by our ability to connect scientific discovery with emerging technologies and real-world needs,” he remarked, highlighting how the convergence of expertise serves the UAE’s strategic priorities in energy security, sustainability and technological advancement.
The conference programme spans an extensive range of subject matter, from renewable and clean energy technologies to hydrogen energy and fuel cells, energy conversion and storage systems, and green power generation methodologies. Particular emphasis is placed upon the application of artificial intelligence to the design, control and optimisation of energy and chemical systems, alongside examination of the critical water-energy nexus and its implications for resource security.
Dr. Najwa Aaraj, Chief Executive Officer of the Technology Innovation Institute, underscored the transformative potential of integrating energy systems with AI capabilities. “The convergence of energy and artificial intelligence is opening new possibilities for how we design, operate and optimise the systems that underpin our future,” she stated, emphasising TII’s commitment to translating advanced research into practical technologies that address complex global challenges.
By convening this international community within Abu Dhabi, the conferences aim to strengthen collaborative research networks, create opportunities for faculty and student engagement, and contribute solutions that support the emirate’s vision of technological leadership alongside environmental stewardship. The forum reflects Abu Dhabi’s commitment to positioning itself as a leading hub for advanced technology research and innovation on the global stage.
