Abu Dhabi Judicial Department Charts Expanded Judicial Cooperation With Finland

Senior officials from Abu Dhabi and Finland discuss strengthening ties through judicial innovation, digital transformation and shared expertise in modern justice systems.

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has moved to deepen its judicial cooperation with Finland, following high-level discussions between senior officials focused on advancing mutual interests in justice-sector development and innovation.

Counsellor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, recently received Leena Meri, Finland’s Minister of Justice, and her accompanying delegation for substantive talks exploring avenues for strengthened bilateral partnership and collaborative expertise-sharing.

The discussions examined a wide spectrum of judicial advancement, including institutional best practices in innovative judicial services, contemporary approaches to justice-system administration, and the strategic application of technology and artificial intelligence as instruments for enhancing litigation efficiency and widening access to justice for all.

Speaking during the meeting, Al Abri emphasised the Department’s commitment to expanding its international judicial partnerships and leveraging global expertise to reinforce the rule of law whilst developing a justice infrastructure aligned with the world’s most exacting standards. He noted that these efforts proceed under the visionary guidance and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department.

Al Abri highlighted Finland’s distinguished track record in institutional innovation, legislative modernisation and the application of intelligent digital systems, identifying promising areas for mutual cooperation in digital transformation initiatives, judicial knowledge exchange and the development of technology-driven solutions to enhance judicial efficiency.

Minister Meri commended the remarkable progress achieved in Abu Dhabi’s judicial system and its comprehensive digital transformation programme. She expressed Finland’s strong interest in strengthening cooperative ties and exchanging practical expertise to support the development of the wider justice sector across the region.
