Abu Dhabi Police and Zayed Authority Launch Sign Language Voice Platform for Enhanced Service Access

A groundbreaking digital initiative harnesses sign language interpretation technology to enable deaf and hard-of-hearing residents to engage independently with police services across the emirate.
Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters has unveiled an innovative digital platform developed in strategic collaboration with Zayed Authority for People of Determination, affiliated with the Department of Community Development. The Sign Language Voice platform represents a transformative advancement in accessible government services, providing deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals with direct, dignified communication channels to police services throughout the emirate.
This sophisticated digital solution enables instantaneous visual communication with certified sign language interpreters, facilitating seamless exchanges between service personnel and deaf customers. By eliminating traditional barriers to accessing interpretation services, the platform substantially reduces transaction times whilst maintaining the highest standards of service quality and customer experience. The initiative embodies a commitment to ensuring that all residents may access essential police services with complete independence and privacy.
The platform forms an integral component of Abu Dhabi Police’s broader strategic vision to develop human-centred, technologically advanced policing services that serve the entire community equitably. Abdullah Abdulalee Al Humaidan, Acting Director General of Zayed Authority for People of Determination, described the launch as a demonstration of both organisations’ dedication to leveraging innovation and technology in service of social inclusion. He emphasised that empowering People of Determination begins fundamentally with removing barriers to service access and harnessing modern digital solutions that enable independent engagement with government institutions.
Major General Imran Ahmed Al Mazrouei, Director of the Human Resources Sector at Abu Dhabi Police, characterised the platform as a significant addition to the police services ecosystem. He highlighted that the initiative reflects the organisation’s institutional commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where people remain central to all priorities. The success of such endeavours, he noted, depends upon investing meaningfully in human capital, continuously developing employee capabilities, and combining technological innovation with robust institutional partnerships and knowledge exchange.
The Sign Language Voice platform will be progressively rolled out across police stations throughout Abu Dhabi, substantially extending service accessibility for deaf residents. This collaborative achievement builds upon years of partnership between Abu Dhabi Police and Zayed Authority, encompassing numerous initiatives designed to promote sign language adoption, develop specialised support services, and create innovative solutions addressing the distinctive needs of People of Determination. The launch exemplifies Abu Dhabi’s unwavering commitment to building a more inclusive society whilst advancing the wise leadership’s vision for empowering all residents and enhancing quality of life across the emirate.
