With more than 40 ministers, record-breaking exhibition space and nearly a quarter million attendees from 170 countries, the global energy industry converges this week for four days of strategic dialogue and transformative investment.
The momentum has been building for weeks, and now it arrives. On Monday, ADIPEC 2026 opens its doors to what will be the most expansive edition of the world’s pre-eminent energy conference, drawing together the architects of global energy policy, the leaders of the world’s largest energy corporations, and the innovators reshaping how the world powers itself.
Held under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and hosted by ADNOC, this four-day convening will gather more than 40 ministers alongside policymakers, regulators and global chief executives in an unprecedented assembly of energy leadership. Nearly 240,000 attendees from over 170 countries will move through 16 fully booked exhibition halls, encounter 30 country pavilions, and engage with 2,260 exhibiting companies spanning the entire energy value chain.
The scale reflects something deeper than mere growth. As we reported in our October coverage, energy sector confidence has reached historic highs, with 85 per cent of industry leaders identifying unprecedented investment opportunities. The gathering arrives at a moment when rising global energy demand, geopolitical shifts and mounting infrastructure requirements have placed energy security and resilience at the centre of economic strategy for governments and corporations alike.
Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, will open proceedings with an address setting the tone for four days of strategic dialogue. A high-level ministerial discussion titled “The power shift: strengthening energy security in a changing world” will convene Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche; Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Dr Alparslan Bayraktar; and Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi to explore the policies, investment priorities and international partnerships essential to securing energy supplies whilst supporting economic growth.
The conference will draw 54 national and international oil and energy companies, among them bp, TotalEnergies, Eni, ExxonMobil and Chevron, alongside major technology leaders including Siemens AG, IBM and Microsoft. Leading CEOs include Meg O’Neill of bp, Dr Roland Busch of Siemens AG, Lorenzo Simonelli of Baker Hughes, and Takayuki Ueda of INPEX.
Demand for exhibition space has been so robust that the opening ceremony relocated to the Abu Dhabi Energy Centre to create additional floor area at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. Asia will make its strongest-ever showing, with 353 companies and six country pavilions representing China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea, reflecting the region’s growing influence on global energy demand, investment and infrastructure development.
Four specialised zones will showcase emerging priorities: an expanded AI Zone highlighting practical applications of artificial intelligence, robotics and advanced analytics; dedicated spaces for digitalisation, low carbon solutions and chemicals; and a maritime and logistics zone addressing supply reliability and system resilience. More than 1,800 speakers will deliver insights across 13 conference programmes and over 380 sessions spanning energy security, infrastructure, investment, natural gas and LNG, industrial competitiveness and workforce development.
As we noted in mid-October, ADIPEC 2026 represents a pivotal gathering for an industry confronting both unprecedented challenges and opportunities. The convergence of so much capital, expertise and political will in one place, for one purpose, reflects a global acknowledgement that energy security and economic resilience are inseparable.
What it means for Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi has positioned itself as the intellectual and commercial epicentre of global energy strategy. By hosting ADIPEC, the Emirate reinforces its status as the place where the world’s energy future is shaped, where investment decisions worth billions take form through conversation and partnership, and where the region’s vast expertise and resources command the attention of every major energy player worldwide. The event’s scale this year underscores Abu Dhabi’s role as a bridge between traditional energy security and the technologies and policies reshaping the global energy landscape.
For the city itself, ADIPEC brings economic vitality, international business engagement and visibility among the global leadership whose decisions affect energy markets for decades to come. The presence of 40 ministers and hundreds of CEOs creates a rare concentration of decision-making authority, amplifying Abu Dhabi’s voice in conversations about the future of energy, investment flows, technology adoption and the relationship between energy policy and economic development across the world.
