Ajman Arbitration Centre Sets Out Enhanced Standards for Specialist Arbitrators and Experts

A comprehensive legal seminar has outlined updated registration criteria designed to strengthen the calibre of dispute resolution professionals across the emirate's thriving commercial sector.
The Ajman Arbitration Centre has convened a significant legal seminar to present refined registration standards for arbitrators and experts, reflecting the growing sophistication of commercial dispute resolution across the United Arab Emirates.
Organised in collaboration with the Higher Institute for Legal Training and the Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal Professionals, the seminar addressed the updated Regulation on the Registration of Arbitrators and Experts at the Ajman Arbitration Centre for 2026, establishing clearer pathways and enhanced criteria for professional accreditation.
Hindi Obaid Al Matrooshi, Secretary-General of the Ajman Arbitration Centre, emphasised the strategic importance of these developments. “Updating the Regulation and clarifying the mechanisms for its application represents a significant step in developing the arbitration system in the Emirate of Ajman, and providing a specialised base of competent and experienced arbitrators and experts,” he stated during the proceedings.
The seminar brought together specialists in legal and arbitration disciplines alongside experts from relevant professional sectors, creating a platform for comprehensive knowledge exchange. Discussions centred on the frameworks governing registration, the classification criteria for selecting arbitrators and experts, and procedures for renewing professional credentials.
Al Matrooshi highlighted arbitration’s increasingly vital role as an efficient mechanism for resolving commercial disputes with flexibility and speed. The updated standards reflect the need for practitioners who possess not only substantial experience but also specialised expertise aligned with contemporary economic developments and the evolving requirements of the business community.
The registration framework welcomes experienced professionals from diverse disciplines including commercial law, finance, engineering, accounting and other technical specialisations. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that the Ajman Arbitration Centre can draw upon a rich pool of expertise suited to the complexity of modern commercial disputes.
By establishing rigorous, objective standards for professional registration, the initiative reinforces confidence in dispute resolution procedures and contributes to the creation of a more stable and transparent business environment. These improvements enhance Ajman’s reputation as an attractive destination for investment and commercial enterprise, positioning the emirate competitively within the region’s dynamic economic landscape.
Participants engaged actively throughout the seminar, exchanging insights and clarifying provisions of the revised Regulation. This collaborative approach has strengthened the readiness of arbitrators and experts to meet the new requirements, ensuring a seamless transition to the enhanced standards.
