Ajman’s Beachfront Renaissance: A New Chapter in Coastal Urban Design

As Ajman Municipality completes its Beach Development Project, the emirate prepares to unveil an integrated destination that weaves together recreation, sustainability and community wellbeing along its treasured shoreline.

The Corniche has always held a particular place in the life of a city, and in Ajman, the beachfront has long represented the emirate’s connection to its maritime heritage and natural beauty. Now, as the Ajman Beach Development Project reaches its final stages, the waterfront is about to transform into something more: a carefully crafted urban environment that speaks to how a modern emirate can honor its landscape while enhancing the lives of those who inhabit it.

Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director-General of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, recently reviewed the preparations for the project’s opening alongside senior officials including Dr. Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector, and Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Infrastructure Development Sector. The visit underscored the project’s significance within the broader framework of Ajman Urban Plan 2040 and the emirate’s Vision 2030 commitment to sustainable development.

The development represents far more than a simple expansion of beach facilities. At its heart lies a philosophy of integrated urban design: expanded beach areas interwoven with enhanced green spaces, a sports walkway and cycling path designed to encourage active lifestyles, and diverse recreational facilities intended to serve families, community members and visitors alike. The landscaping works extend across the site, expanding the emirate’s natural character while shaping spaces that invite people to gather, move and simply be present in nature.

Within the broader context of Ajman’s modernization efforts, this project sits alongside other recent achievements. The municipality recently completed 27 transformative AI initiatives spanning public health and urban planning, while its Smart Investment Maps initiative earned recognition for innovative geospatial solutions. The Beach Development Project demonstrates how this technological forward-thinking extends to physical space, creating destinations that enhance urban life in tangible, human-centred ways.

The project reflects Ajman Municipality and Planning Department’s commitment to quality of life through thoughtfully implemented development.
