Ajman’s Financial Leadership Embraces AI to Shape Smarter Government Operations

Ajman's Financial Leadership Embraces AI to Shape Smarter Government Operations

Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi has approved a comprehensive three-year programme of artificial intelligence initiatives designed to transform how Ajman's financial operations function, embedding smart technologies into the heart of government service.

The landscape of government administration is shifting beneath our feet. Where once financial operations moved through channels established over decades, a new generation of possibilities now emerges. In Ajman, this transformation is taking shape through a deliberately considered plan to weave artificial intelligence throughout the Department of Finance’s machinery, not as an experiment, but as foundational infrastructure for the years ahead.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Representative of H.H. the Ruler of Ajman for Administrative and Financial Affairs and Chairman of the Ajman Department of Finance, has approved fifteen artificial intelligence initiatives to be rolled out across three years, beginning in 2027 and concluding in 2029. Organised into three packages of five initiatives each, the programme addresses several priority domains: the mechanics of how work flows, the systems that support planning and strategy, the purchasing and management of assets, and the frameworks of financial oversight.

These are not incremental adjustments. The initiatives are designed to reshape operational efficiency and productivity, to accelerate the pace of work processes, to ensure greater accuracy in data handling, and to elevate the quality of financial services delivered to government customers. They will grant teams the capacity to harness data and intelligent solutions more effectively, enabling decisions that are more proactive, more grounded in evidence and more precisely calibrated to need.

During the Department of Finance’s Leadership Council meeting for the first half of 2026, Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi emphasised that this approval marks a watershed moment. Investment in smart technologies, he noted, has become inseparable from the pursuit of improved performance and the creation of genuine added value for all those served by the government. The initiatives embody a commitment to translating the vision of Ajman’s leadership into tangible advances in innovation, both in the operational realm and in the services extended to the public.

The wisdom of the approach lies in its timeframe and discipline. By distributing the initiatives evenly across three years, with five to be implemented annually, the Department ensures that implementation aligns with clear strategic priorities whilst allowing the impact of each initiative to be measured and understood as it unfolds. This measured pace permits learning and adjustment, transforming the programme from a theoretical blueprint into lived, tested practice.

Marwan Al Ali, Director-General of the Department, articulated the deeper ambition: to move artificial intelligence beyond the realm of experimentation and isolated applications towards an integrated presence at the centre of daily financial operations. Smart solutions, he observed, should become woven into the fabric of how work happens, not sitting at the margins. This integration promises tangible benefit to employees, to those seeking government services, and to those responsible for strategic decisions, whilst simultaneously enhancing the stewardship of resources.

The meeting also reviewed five smart systems already launched during the first half of 2026: the Smart Leadership System, an Early Warning System, a Smart Risk Management System, a Smart Financial Adviser and a Smart Supplier Registration platform. Together, these represent the foundation upon which the new initiatives will build.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

Ajman’s commitment to embedding artificial intelligence within government financial operations signals a broader evolution across the emirates towards smarter, more responsive administration. The deliberate, measured approach to implementation, with clear annual targets and measurable outcomes, demonstrates how innovation in one emirate can illuminate pathways for others to follow. The focus on enhancing decision-making, operational efficiency and service quality reflects priorities that resonate throughout the UAE’s vision of a more agile and effective government ecosystem.

The emphasis on empowering teams to work more effectively with data and smart solutions aligns with the leadership’s wider commitment to institutional excellence and sustainable development. As the Department of Finance transforms its operations, the ripple effects extend beyond Ajman itself, contributing to the broader UAE narrative of thoughtful, purposeful technological advancement in service of the public good.
