Ajman’s Sustainability Award Draws Global Recognition with 450 Submissions

The third edition of the Humaid bin Rashid International Sustainability Award celebrates transformative environmental initiatives across research, institutions and innovative solutions, with winners to be honoured at the Eighth Ajman International Environment Conference.
When leaders across governments, academic institutions and the private sector gather to recognise excellence in sustainability, the measure of their commitment becomes visible in the breadth of participation. The third edition of the Humaid bin Rashid International Sustainability Award, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, has drawn 450 entries from entities, institutions and countries worldwide—a testament to the growing momentum behind environmental innovation and climate action.
The Award ceremony and announcement of winners will take place during the Eighth Ajman International Environment Conference on 28 and 29 October. Held under the theme “From Commitment to Implementation: Towards Sustainability, Enhanced Climate Resilience and Carbon Neutrality,” the Conference marks a significant moment for translating environmental commitments into tangible, implementable solutions.
Dr Engineer Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector at Ajman Municipality & Planning Department and Chairman of the Conference’s Higher Committee, emphasised that the Award recognises contributions advancing innovative environmental practices and supporting sustainability. By honouring these efforts, the Award strengthens the integration between scientific knowledge and practical application, fostering the exchange of expertise and experiences essential to addressing environmental and climate challenges.
The Award comprises four main categories: Environmental Personality, Best Research, Sustainable Institutions, and Innovative Ideas. Recognition is distributed across multiple winners in the Best Research and Sustainable Institutions categories, each acknowledging three winners, while the Innovative Ideas Award is presented to a single winner in recognition of outstanding contributions offering solutions that advance environmental sustainability.
This edition reflects not only growing international interest in sustainability but also the commitment of institutions and researchers to presenting initiatives that contribute to sustainable development. The scope and scale of participation underscores how environmental stewardship has become a priority across sectors and geographies. By championing scientific research, recognising institutional adoption of sustainable practices, and celebrating innovative thinking, the Award supports the broader transition towards carbon neutrality and enhanced climate resilience.
Ajman Municipality & Planning Department continues to implement high quality initiatives that strengthen cooperation among researchers, institutions and relevant entities, creating momentum towards a more sustainable future for generations to come.
