Al Ain Zoo Lights Up the Night with Glow After Dark
Al Ain Zoo is bringing a luminous new dimension to family visits with Glow After Dark, a festival of illuminated animal lanterns, live performances and colourful activities taking place from 5 September to 4 October 2026.
With the zoo open from 2pm to 10pm and festival activities beginning at 5pm, visitors can arrive during the afternoon and stay as the grounds take on a different character. As daylight fades, glowing installations, music and larger-than-life figures become the focus of the evening.
A lantern-lit world of animals
Animal lanterns and glowing decorations are at the heart of the experience, transforming pathways into an after-dark setting designed to be explored. Illuminated figures bring a playful interpretation of the natural world to the zoo’s grounds, with light and colour giving familiar animal shapes a new presence.
The event’s promotional imagery offers a glimpse of the atmosphere: flamingos and turtles glowing in warm tones, oversized penguin lanterns beneath sparkling trees, and ribbons of light winding through the greenery. For families, these displays offer plenty of reasons to pause, look closer and capture a photograph together.
LED dancers bring the night to life
Live entertainment adds movement and music to the illuminated setting. LED dancers perform in vibrant light-up costumes, turning their routines into a combination of choreography and colour.
The contrast is part of the appeal: while the lantern displays invite visitors to wander and take in the details, the dancers bring a more energetic rhythm to the evening, with their costumes making each movement part of the visual spectacle.
Glowing characters on stilts
LED stilt walkers add another dimension to the programme. Roaming through the zoo in illuminated costumes, these towering characters bring the entertainment into the surrounding spaces rather than keeping it in one place.
Their larger-than-life silhouettes are designed to catch the eye and create memorable photo opportunities, adding a sense of surprise as families explore the grounds.
A little glow for younger visitors
Children can become part of the colourful scene through glow-in-the-dark face painting. Designs inspired by nature and wildlife give younger visitors the chance to choose a look of their own and see its vivid colours come to life after sunset.
