A wellness restaurant with a founder-led point of view
Alkalime is not simply a café with a few vegan dishes added to the menu. Founder Nagham Al Zahwali built the concept around a broader philosophy of simple, wholesome and homemade food, with the name combining “alkaline” and “lime”. The current official site describes the majority of meals as alkaline and positions the restaurant as an everyday place for incremental healthier choices rather than extreme dieting. Comfort food is rewritten rather than removed
The menu is most interesting when it takes recognisable dishes and rebuilds them with plant-forward ingredients. Current examples include eggplant shakshuka, an “Eat Your Greens” omelette, a vegan sourdough croissant filled with plant-based scramble and mushroom bacon, sweet-potato pancakes, açai bowls and cold-pressed juices. The wider offer reaches into burgers, pizza and other familiar comfort formats, but with the restaurant’s emphasis on natural ingredients and lighter substitutions. This makes Alkalime useful for mixed groups: it can satisfy committed plant-based diners without asking everyone else to treat lunch as a nutrition lecture.
The space is designed to be used for longer than a meal
Alkalime deliberately blurs restaurant and workspace. Cork meeting booths, reading corners, plugs, Wi-Fi and a beachfront outlook encourage freelancers and remote workers to stay, while the retail corner extends the food philosophy into products to take home. The official site currently lists Sunday to Thursday from 8am to 10pm and Friday to Saturday from 9am to 10pm, with the same Mamsha location and telephone carried across its contact pages.
