Arab Youth Center Opens Eighth Edition of Young Arab Media Leaders Programme

Fifty emerging media professionals from across the Arab world gather in Dubai for an intensive three-week masterclass in digital storytelling, artificial intelligence and contemporary journalism practices.

The Arab Youth Center has inaugurated the eighth iteration of its prestigious Young Arab Media Leaders initiative, welcoming fifty participants representing eighteen Arab nations to the United Arab Emirates for an immersive programme of professional development. Commencing at the New Economy Academy within Emirates Towers, Dubai, the three-week curriculum extends through 15th October, with sessions distributed across multiple venues throughout the UAE.

The programme represents a comprehensive exploration of contemporary media practice, combining practical training in content production with theoretical grounding in emerging technologies. Participants engage directly with artificial intelligence tools, fact-checking methodologies, digital storytelling techniques and multimedia platform adaptation, whilst benefiting from mentorship with established media professionals and access to leading industry institutions.

Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Vice Chairman of the Arab Youth Center, articulated the programme’s vision: “Arab youth are an active force in shaping the future of media. They bring the knowledge and perspective to engage with rapid change and the issues affecting their communities. By equipping young media talent with professional skills, awareness and a strong sense of responsibility, we aim to expand their role in the sector and support them in producing content that reflects their communities and earns public trust.”

The curriculum encompasses AI-assisted research methodologies, scriptwriting, multimedia production and personalised AI tool development, with particular emphasis upon the ethical deployment of emerging technologies and the preservation of human editorial judgment. Participants undertake practical reporting assignments addressing thematic areas including water sustainability, regional geopolitical challenges and crisis communication, developing capacity to present complex issues with clarity and contextual sensitivity.

The programme’s technical curriculum includes mobile journalism, extended reality applications, advanced editing suites and short-form content creation tailored to younger demographics. Professional development modules cover message development, public communication, digital presentation and LinkedIn professional presence building.

Industry engagement forms a cornerstone of the experience. Participants benefit from expert-led sessions delivered by representatives from CNN Arabic and Al Mashhad, whilst institutional visits encompass the headquarters of National Network Communications, Sharjah Media City and Blinx studios. Educational partnerships with Ajman University provide additional theoretical and practical foundations.

The programme’s concluding phase focuses upon independent project development, with participants refining original media concepts through the production cycle before presenting finished work to an expert evaluation panel. This final stage synthesises skills acquired throughout the three weeks, from conceptual development through to polished presentation.
