BlackRock Affirms UAE’s Enduring Allure for International Capital
A leading economist at BlackRock Investment Institute highlights the nation's robust fundamentals and emerging opportunities in artificial intelligence and infrastructure development.
The United Arab Emirates continues to present compelling attractions for global investors, according to a senior economist at BlackRock Investment Institute. Speaking at the annual conference of the Middle East Investor Relations Association in Dubai, Ehsan Khoman underscored the durability of the factors that have established the nation as a preferred destination for international capital.
The economist noted that high-frequency economic indicators demonstrate substantial resilience across the Emirates, whilst the foundational elements that have long supported investor confidence remain firmly established. Traditional sectors including trade, travel, tourism and transport have proven their capacity to sustain robust performance, maintaining their pivotal role in underpinning economic expansion.
Emerging Sectors and Strategic Diversification
Looking ahead, Mr Khoman identified significant opportunities emerging across a three-to-five-year horizon. He highlighted a prospective evolution in project composition, with particular emphasis on initiatives designed to reinforce economic resilience and develop alternative routes and infrastructure. This includes substantial undertakings in ports and pipeline development, reflecting the UAE’s strategic approach to diversifying supply channels away from traditional maritime passages such as the Strait of Hormuz.
Artificial Intelligence as a Strategic Priority
Artificial intelligence has assumed prominence as a transformative sector, with the UAE demonstrating tangible momentum in implementation and development. Numerous projects are currently operational whilst additional ventures continue to receive announcement, reflecting the nation’s comprehensive strategy to accelerate technological advancement and digital transformation.
The forthcoming phase of artificial intelligence expansion is anticipated to concentrate increasingly on the foundational infrastructure essential for technological deployment. This encompasses semiconductors, microchip manufacturing and the sophisticated components requisite for establishing advanced data centre operations.
Mr Khoman emphasised that the artificial intelligence ecosystem represents a substantial opportunity for future development. The UAE possesses distinctive competitive advantages in this domain, including abundant energy resources, substantial capital availability and an impressive portfolio of announced projects across the sector.
