After recovering from significant injuries sustained over the past two years, accomplished rider Richard Mullen prepares for his 28th racing season, commencing with the Dubai Racing Carnival on 6th November.

The distinguished British jockey Richard Mullen is poised to return to the illustrious Dubai Racing Carnival, commencing on 6th November, following a remarkable period of recuperation from serious injuries sustained over the preceding two years. Dubai Racing Club has confirmed his anticipated return to the sport he has graced with consummate professionalism for more than two and a half decades.

Mullen, aged 50, has demonstrated extraordinary resilience in his recovery, having undergone multiple surgical interventions to address fractures, a dislocated elbow and ligament damage. His determination proved unwavering throughout this challenging period, and his commitment has been rewarded with an accomplished previous season, during which he recorded 28 victories, amongst them a prestigious Group 1 triumph.

The veteran rider’s affection for Dubai’s equestrian landscape remains undiminished since he commenced racing at Meydan in the year 2000. He has eloquently articulated his profound appreciation for the racecourse and the wider racing environment afforded by the United Arab Emirates, which he regards as amongst the world’s most exceptional settings for the sport.

For his 28th racing season, Mullen will rejoin the highly regarded Al Marmoom stables under the tutelage of trainer Charlie Appleby, an association that speaks to the enduring respect he commands within Dubai’s racing fraternity. Throughout his recuperation, Mullen has expressed heartfelt gratitude to his family for their unwavering support during his recovery, a period that witnessed considerable pressure and scrutiny from those questioning his continued participation in the sport. Rather than diminish his resolve, such expressions have instead galvanised his determination to return to competitive racing at the highest level.

His return represents a testament to both personal fortitude and the world-class medical and support infrastructure available within the Emirate, which has enabled his successful rehabilitation and his readiness to resume his distinguished career on one of global racing’s most prestigious stages.
