Dubai forges academic and government partnerships with UAEU to train content creators
On the closing day of the Arab Media Summit 2026, a series of MoUs signed in Dubai linked media authorities with government bodies and universities — including United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain — to develop the Dubai Content Creators Programme.
Dubai signs multi-party agreements to build media skills
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, witnessed a suite of memoranda of understanding on the final day of the Arab Media Summit 2026 in Dubai. The agreements bring together the Dubai Media Council, the Government of Dubai Media Office and the Dubai Press Club with a range of government and academic partners to expand media capability and nurture young talent.
The partnerships are structured to underpin the Dubai Content Creators Programme, an initiative designed to give aspiring media professionals practical experience and specialised training. Signatories included Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of the Dubai Press Club; Zaki Nusseibeh, Cultural Adviser to the UAE President and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU); and senior leaders from Dubai Municipality, the Supreme Legislation Committee in Dubai, Dubai Courts, Dubai Customs, ENOC, the University of Dubai, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University and the Higher Colleges of Technology.
United Arab Emirates University, based in Al Ain, was a principal academic partner. Its involvement was described by Zaki Nusseibeh as an opportunity to strengthen links between higher education and the media sector, enabling students to combine research and study with professional practice and gain employable skills for careers in media and content production.
Other MoUs commit municipal and regulatory bodies to topic-specific elements of the programme. Dubai Municipality will support training for creators focusing on public and occupational safety, while Dubai Courts and the Supreme Legislation Committee will help develop legal and legislative content that is accurate and accessible. Dubai Customs will collaborate on security and economic content to raise public awareness of customs operations and risks such as smuggling. ENOC and the University of Dubai will contribute sectoral expertise in retail and digital business communication respectively, and Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University will support skills development for emerging technologies and artificial intelligence in content production. The Higher Colleges of Technology will provide pathways linking academic learning with industry placements.
Mona Ghanem Al Marri said the agreements reflect a long-term approach to partnership, intended to promote knowledge sharing, capability building and closer integration between institutions. Collectively, the MoUs are intended to broaden training opportunities for young media professionals and to align academic curricula with the evolving needs of Dubai’s media and creative industries.
