Dubai International Chamber Launches Expansion Lab to Equip UAE Companies for Global Markets

A specialised initiative designed to prepare Dubai-based enterprises for international expansion has brought together leading industry experts to guide the next generation of UAE exporters.
Dubai International Chamber has unveiled the Expansion Lab, a comprehensive programme designed to equip UAE-based companies with the strategic knowledge and practical capabilities essential for successful global market entry. The initiative attracted 21 Dubai-based enterprises owned by UAE nationals, each demonstrating significant growth potential and a commitment to international expansion.
Forming part of the broader New Horizons initiative, the Expansion Lab represents a structured approach to preparing domestic businesses for the complexities of international commerce. The programme focuses on enabling participants to assess their readiness for global operations, identify areas requiring development, and establish sustainable foundations for growth beyond the UAE’s borders.
Salem Al Shamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, emphasised the chamber’s commitment to supporting national enterprises: “We are committed to supporting UAE companies as they expand their operations and strengthen their presence in global markets, equipping them with the knowledge, expertise, and connections they need. This helps them identify promising opportunities and make informed decisions about international expansion.”
The event brought together prominent industry stakeholders, including representatives from DP World, Dubai Trade (the digital commercial arm of DP World in the GCC), Wio Bank, and SGS Gulf Limited, a specialised compliance and inspection services provider. These participants contributed practical insights and real-world examples to address key expansion challenges.
The programme’s content encompassed the complete international expansion journey, examining operational and strategic capabilities that distinguish globally competitive enterprises. Discussions addressed essential considerations ranging from market identification and selection of appropriate entry strategies through to management of international operations and regulatory compliance.
Participants explored critical decision-making points throughout market entry, including target market assessment, selection of entry methodology, and evaluation of distribution partnerships, direct sales approaches, logistics arrangements, and local collaborations. The session examined commercial considerations including pricing strategies, landed costs, Incoterms application, payment arrangements, customs procedures, and certification requirements.
An interactive roundtable enabled attendees to present practical challenges encountered in their international expansion efforts and engage with industry experts specialising in trade facilitation, market access, logistics solutions, customs support, and digital trade services.
The New Horizons initiative provides an ongoing platform through which Dubai International Chamber delivers practical support to UAE companies seeking sustainable international presence and market entry success.
