Dubai Municipality Launches Intergenerational Initiative to Inspire Young Minds

A Generation for a Greater Tomorrow invites families to explore municipal services through interactive experiences at City Centre Mirdif this October.

Dubai Municipality has unveiled an innovative community initiative designed to inspire young people and their families, offering an immersive introduction to the diverse operations that sustain the Emirate’s dynamic urban landscape. Running from 7 to 11 October at City Centre Mirdif, ‘A Generation for a Greater Tomorrow’ combines education, exploration and recreation through a carefully curated series of interactive stations.

The programme reflects the UAE’s commitment to strengthening family participation and engagement, particularly during the Year of the Family. Through age-appropriate activities, games and practical experiences, children develop knowledge and skills whilst discovering how municipal services underpin everyday life in the city.

A Diverse Learning Experience

The initiative encompasses several specialised stations, each exploring different dimensions of municipal work. An agriculture-focused area introduces participants to local plant species and cultivation techniques, including seedling preparation, soil management and irrigation methods, emphasising the importance of green spaces in urban development.

Health and safety education forms another cornerstone, with activities addressing household safety, road awareness and public space protocols. Children connect theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios they encounter in parks, beaches and urban environments.

A dedicated platform nurtures communication and creative expression, encouraging children to develop presentation skills and explore content creation across diverse formats. Interactive digital games present municipal services in accessible ways, with experiences spanning public health and veterinary care to waste management and sustainability practices.

An interactive laboratory introduces scientific exploration, demonstrating how municipal laboratories contribute to public health and environmental protection. This hands-on scientific engagement allows young people to appreciate the technical expertise supporting city operations.

Building Tomorrow’s Civic Engagement

Through this comprehensive programme, Dubai Municipality seeks to deepen children’s understanding of municipal responsibilities whilst fostering skills across multiple disciplines. The initiative engages with the aspirations and curiosity of the next generation, strengthening their connection to the essential work that develops Dubai and enhances residents’ quality of life.

By creating meaningful opportunities for families to explore municipal services together, the initiative supports the continued evolution of a more attractive, sustainable and liveable city for all inhabitants.
