A delegation from Dubai's leading media institution has concluded a substantive visit to Qatar, forging deeper connections with regional media leaders and participating in an international forum on the future of journalism and communications.
The Dubai Press Club has concluded a visit to Doha that brought its representatives into direct conversation with some of the Gulf region’s most influential media voices. The programme brought together a carefully curated series of meetings with senior figures from Qatar’s media landscape, alongside participation in CNN Global Perspectives: In Doha, a significant international forum examining the intersection of geopolitics, technology, culture and journalism.
The delegation met with Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, Director of the Government Communications Office in Qatar; Hamad Omar AlMannai, Chief Executive Officer of Media City Qatar; Issa bin Abdullah Al Hitmi, General Manager of Al Kass Sports Channels; and representatives from Qatar News Agency, including Yousuf Yaqoub Al Hammadi, Director of the News Department, and Shuaa Hamad Al Mohannadi, Assistant Director of the Editorial and Media Monitoring Department.
These conversations centred on identifying fresh opportunities for collaborative work and knowledge sharing, understanding the evolving priorities of media organisations, and examining how the rapid transformation of the industry is creating new pathways for content development, production and audience engagement. The dialogue also examined how to deepen professional networks and encourage greater cooperation between media professionals working across the Gulf.
Maryam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club, reflected on the significance of the exchange. “The visit reflects our commitment to providing the Club’s members with opportunities to engage directly with regional and international media expertise and participate in discussions shaping the future of the industry. Such exchanges broaden their perspectives and strengthen their ability to contribute to the continued development of the media sector,” she said.
Al Mulla emphasised that closer cooperation between Gulf and Arab media organisations strengthens the region’s ability to keep pace with global developments and to shape the industry’s future. The visit forms part of the Club’s broader mission to cultivate ties across the Arab world, a commitment that extends to supporting the professional development of media practitioners through initiatives such as its enhanced Content Creators Programme, developed in partnership with the Department of Economy and Tourism.
“Closer cooperation and direct engagement between media leaders and professionals create a stronger foundation for joint initiatives and the exchange of expertise,” Al Mulla continued. “We believe that closer ties between Arab media organisations are essential to building a more influential Arab media sector with a stronger global presence.”
The forum attendance brought an international dimension to the visit, offering Dubai Press Club members the opportunity to hear from leaders across government, business and civil society, and to gain deeper insight into how political, economic and technological developments are shaping journalism and media’s evolving role in helping audiences understand complex global change.
What it means for Abu Dhabi
These developments underscore the significance of media cooperation across the Emirates and the broader region. As Dubai’s media sector continues to strengthen, the Dubai Press Club’s work to build regional and international networks contributes to the emirate’s growing position as a centre of media excellence and dialogue, while supporting the professional development of practitioners across the Gulf.
The visit reflects a broader commitment to building stronger institutional connections across the Arab world. By fostering direct engagement between media leaders and encouraging the exchange of expertise, such initiatives contribute to the development of a more cohesive and influential Arab media sector with greater global presence and relevance.
