As Knowledge Partner for the 45th edition, the research organisation unveils a substantial collection of original works and translations, reinforcing its commitment to advancing regional thought and scholarly exchange.
The Sharjah International Book Fair, one of the region’s most significant gatherings of minds and ideas, will this November host a robust presence from TRENDS Group, whose pavilion promises to be a nexus of intellectual engagement and contemporary research discourse. The fair, running from 4th to 15th November at Expo Centre Sharjah under the theme Made of Stories, will welcome 2,673 publishers and exhibitors from 124 countries, alongside approximately 1,500 cultural, intellectual and creative events.
For the seventh consecutive year, TRENDS Group serves as Knowledge Partner, a designation that reflects the organisation’s standing within the knowledge community. This year marks the unveiling of 19 new research publications, both original works and translations, to be added to TRENDS’ existing collection of over 550 titles. The new works represent the output of young Emirati specialists, experts and researchers, combining academic rigour with strategic insight into contemporary challenges.
The TRENDS pavilion will be structured around five interactive sections, each representing the work of the group’s constituent companies. Beyond the physical display of publications, the space will feature interactive AI-powered knowledge hubs and a curated programme of intellectual events, bringing together researchers, thinkers and decision-makers for discussions on culture and creativity within the context of evolving digital technologies and algorithmic systems.
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, Chairman of TRENDS Group, articulates a vision of book fairs as far more than mere marketplaces for publications. They function, he suggests, as living laboratories for the creation and exchange of ideas, spaces where academic research meets community awareness, and platforms for civilised dialogue between cultures and peoples. This philosophy underpins TRENDS’ seven-year engagement with Sharjah’s premier literary event.
The participation extends TRENDS’ established role within the region’s intellectual ecosystem. As we reported in September, the organisation’s presence at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair showcased over 500 research publications and hosted seminars addressing contemporary themes in technology and economics. The Sharjah engagement continues this trajectory of thought leadership.
Mohammed Al-Salmi, Senior Researcher and Director-General of TRENDS Research & Advisory, emphasises the organisation’s commitment to enhancing its research output whilst maintaining scholarly standards. The seven translated works being introduced represent an intentional effort to render sophisticated research accessible to broader audiences, extending the reach of knowledge production beyond traditional academic circles.
Rawdha Al Marzouqi, Researcher and Director of the Distribution and Exhibitions Department at TRENDS Research & Advisory, notes that the second designation of TRENDS as Knowledge Partner for the Sharjah fair reflects institutional trust in the organisation’s scientific approach and methodological rigour. The daily intellectual events planned for the pavilion will feature curated conversations on the intersection of technology, culture and societal development, engaging specialists from across the region and beyond.
What it means for Abu Dhabi
TRENDS Group’s continued prominence at major regional book fairs reinforces Abu Dhabi’s position as a centre of intellectual production and exchange. The organisation’s research output and partnership engagements contribute to the emirate’s broader vision of fostering knowledge-based economies and advancing thought leadership across the Gulf region and beyond.
The expansion of TRENDS’ publications portfolio, particularly through translations and works by emerging Emirati researchers, strengthens the infrastructure for scholarly dialogue within the UAE and across the Arab world. This activity supports Abu Dhabi’s strategic investments in creating platforms for cultural and intellectual exchange, positioning the emirate as a hub where ideas are generated, discussed and disseminated to global audiences.
