Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority Transforms Al Satwa Roundabout into Modern Signalised Intersection

A significant infrastructure enhancement sees the completion of a sophisticated traffic management conversion, delivering substantial improvements to flow and safety across a vital Dubai thoroughfare.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has successfully completed a transformative infrastructure project, converting Al Satwa Roundabout into a contemporary signalised intersection. This substantial enhancement forms part of a comprehensive programme of road and infrastructure improvements designed to optimise traffic circulation and elevate safety standards across the emirate.
The reimagined intersection represents a marked advancement in traffic management sophistication. By replacing the traditional roundabout configuration with intelligent signalised control, the project has achieved a remarkable reduction in waiting times and traffic queues of up to 60 percent during peak hours, delivering measurable benefits to the thousands of motorists who traverse this vital corridor daily.
Positioned at a strategically important junction along 2nd December Street, this enhanced intersection now provides seamless connectivity towards the Trade Centre and throughout Al Satwa in both directions. The improvements extend accessibility to neighbouring districts of considerable significance, including Al Bada’a, Al Jafiliya, Al Hudaiba and Jumeirah, whilst facilitating expedited access to Sheikh Zayed Road and the surrounding network of major arterial routes.
The comprehensive nature of the project encompasses far more than the signalisation system alone. Associated road infrastructure enhancements work in concert to ease congestion, facilitate superior traffic flow patterns and fortify safety provisions for all road users, whether travelling by vehicle or on foot. The modernised intersection demonstrates Dubai’s continued commitment to implementing sophisticated transport solutions that serve the evolving needs of residents and visitors alike.
This achievement reflects the Roads and Transport Authority’s dedication to enhancing urban mobility through strategic infrastructure investment, ensuring that Dubai’s road network continues to operate at optimal efficiency whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety and accessibility.
