Emirates Arabian Horse Society Championships Set to Celebrate Arabian Equine Excellence

Two hundred and fifty three horses from across the UAE converge at Boudheib Academy this week for a showcase of Arabian horse breeding at its finest, judged through an advanced digital platform designed to ensure absolute fairness.
The Emirates Arabian Horse Society National Championship opens its doors tomorrow at Boudheib Academy, drawing together the finest specimens from 179 owners and studs across the UAE. Over two days, 253 horses will be evaluated by expert judges employing the Rabdan system, a sophisticated digital judging platform developed to bring transparency and precision to the assessment of these elegant animals.
The structure of the championship reflects the meticulous categorisation that defines Arabian horse evaluation. Female horses take centre stage on the opening day, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Yearling Fillies in two sections, followed by two and three year old fillies in progressively more detailed divisions. The day concludes with Senior Mares aged four years and above, divided into four sections to accommodate the range of experience and development. The second day honours the male horses, proceeding through similar age groupings from Yearling Colts through to Senior Stallions aged four years and above.
The judging panel will examine each horse according to established criteria spanning type, head, neck, body, conformation, legs and movement, with the top five horses from each qualifying class advancing to the finals. Six ultimate championship categories will determine the overall winners: Yearling Fillies, Junior Fillies, Mares, Yearling Colts, Junior Colts and Stallions.
As we reported following UAE studs’ recent triumph at the International Arabian Horse Title Show in Morocco, the Emirates continues to demonstrate its mastery of Arabian horse breeding and presentation. This national championship forms part of the Society’s extensive 2026 to 2027 season programme, which encompasses seventeen championships and events, five of them international in scope, alongside auctions organised by regional equestrian partners. The full programme culminates on 11th April 2027.
What it means for Abu Dhabi
The championship underscores Abu Dhabi’s and the UAE’s integral role in shaping the global Arabian horse landscape. By fostering rigorous national competitions, the Society develops the expertise and bloodlines that have positioned the nation as a leading centre for Arabian horse sports and activities, creating opportunities for breeders and owners to refine their craft and celebrate their animals.
The digital Rabdan judging system reflects the UAE’s commitment to applying innovation and integrity to its cultural and sporting heritage. By ensuring transparency and fairness in evaluation, the platform enhances confidence in the championship’s outcomes and reinforces the credibility of Arabian horses bred and presented within the Emirates on the international stage.
