Emirates National Schools Board Charts Path for AI-Enhanced Education and Cultural Excellence

The Board of Directors of Emirates National Schools has reviewed ambitious progress in implementing its strategic vision, embracing artificial intelligence technologies whilst maintaining steadfast commitment to national identity and character development.
The Board of Directors of Emirates National Schools, presided over by Ahmed Mohammed Al Hemeiri, Secretary-General of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the ENS Board, has undertaken a comprehensive review of the institution’s educational trajectory and institutional advancement. The deliberations encompassed the implementation of the organisation’s 2026–2028 strategic plan, celebrated achievements across educational and institutional domains, and the conceptualisation of transformative future endeavours.
A cornerstone of the Board’s focus centred upon the thoughtful integration of artificial intelligence technologies within educational frameworks. The proceedings examined outcomes from a pioneering smart robotics pilot initiative conducted at the Mohamed bin Zayed City Campus, an undertaking designed to explore contemporary approaches to pedagogy whilst cultivating students’ technical and creative capacities.
Al Hemeiri reaffirmed that the elevation of the education system constitutes a paramount priority, guided by the visionary directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court. He emphasised the profound commitment to investing in education as a foundational element of human development and the cultivation of national talent capable of contributing meaningfully to comprehensive development across the Emirates.
The Chairman stressed the imperative of transforming these strategic directives into measurable and focused action plans. These initiatives prioritise adherence to the National Charter for Education, enhancement of learning outcomes, advancement of teacher and administrator capabilities, and the judicious harnessing of innovation and artificial intelligence to maintain alignment with accelerating technological change and strengthen students’ preparedness for emerging demands.
Al Hemeiri articulated an expansive conception of educational excellence, extending beyond academic accomplishment to encompass character formation and the cultivation of students’ multifaceted abilities and enduring values. He underscored the necessity of synthesising academic education with national education, thereby preparing generations equipped with contemporary knowledge alongside a robust sense of national identity and pride in their cultural heritage.
During the proceedings, Al Hemeiri undertook an illuminating tour of workshops and cultural activities organised by the schools, occasions designed to reinforce connection to national identity. He examined initiatives that interweave educational endeavour with national heritage, champion the Arabic language, and cultivate students’ profound appreciation for their culture, country and wise leadership.
Lachlan Ewen MacKinnon, Director-General of Emirates National Schools, attributed the institution’s achievements to the sustained support of the Board Chairman and its distinguished members, whose commitment has fostered an academically distinguished learning environment that embraces international best practices whilst preserving national identity.
MacKinnon elaborated that the strategic plan furnishes a practical and comprehensive framework for advancing educational and institutional performance, expanding integration of artificial intelligence and modern technologies, and enhancing the quality of school facilities across the network.
