Enissa Amani Brings European Comedy Mastery to Dubai

The Iranian German stand up star and Netflix special creator performs at New Covent Garden Theatre on 13 October.

Enissa Amani arrives in Dubai as one of Europe’s most accomplished stand up comedians, bringing to the stage an artist whose wit and cultural perspective have captivated audiences across the continent and far beyond. This appearance at New Covent Garden Theatre forms part of Dubai Comedy Festival, an event that continues to establish the emirate as a destination for world class comedy talent and sophisticated live entertainment.

Amani’s rise through the comedy world stands as a testament to her distinctive voice and commanding stage presence. Since establishing herself in the European comedy scene in 2013, she has become a fixture on major German television platforms, where her observational humour and fearless approach to topical material have earned her considerable acclaim. Her trajectory speaks to an artist who has consistently refused to be confined by conventional boundaries, instead using comedy as a vehicle for sharp social commentary delivered with genuine warmth and intelligence.

The comedian’s achievements across her career include recognition at the 2015 German Comedy Awards, where she received the Best Newcomer accolade at a time when the award carried particular significance. Three years later, in 2018, Amani became the first European woman to release a Netflix Original comedy special, titled Ehrenwort, a milestone that marked not only a personal achievement but also a significant moment in the broader landscape of European comedy representation on the global streaming platform. This special showcased her ability to command an international audience whilst maintaining the distinctly European sensibility that defines her material.
