ENOC Group Achieves Over AED478 Million in Sustainability Savings

The energy and resources conglomerate has demonstrated remarkable progress in environmental stewardship, reducing energy intensity by over one fifth whilst advancing comprehensive water recycling initiatives across its diversified operations.
ENOC Group has announced the realisation of more than AED478 million in cumulative savings through its Energy and Resource Management initiatives since 2014, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s commitment to operational excellence and environmental responsibility. The achievement encompasses a noteworthy 21.7 percent improvement in energy efficiency alongside an 11.5 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions intensity, demonstrating the substantial impact of strategic sustainability programmes across the Group’s multifaceted operations.
The comprehensive initiatives have yielded a cumulative avoidance of 1.47 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, supported by investments exceeding AED156 million in sustainability infrastructure and technologies. Renewable energy integration has delivered particular prominence within this portfolio, generating more than AED75 million in cumulative savings since 2017. The Group achieved a waste recycling rate of 65.24 percent in 2025, reflecting robust circular economy practices embedded throughout its facilities.
Water resource management constitutes a cornerstone of ENOC’s sustainability strategy. During 2025, the Group recycled 688,785 cubic metres of treated water across its operations, achieving a water recycling rate of 24.45 percent. Water intensity has demonstrated a particularly encouraging reduction of approximately 20.4 percent since 2014, standing at 0.0491 cubic metres per tonne of product. These metrics exemplify the Group’s practical approach to addressing water security in an arid environment.
Operational achievements across ENOC’s portfolio underscore the breadth of these initiatives. The Jebel Ali refinery redirected approximately 72,389 cubic metres of treated wastewater for irrigation and industrial supply in 2025, generating estimated annual cost savings exceeding AED812,000. The service station network’s auto car wash recycling systems recovered 527,043 cubic metres of treated water, achieving an impressive recycling rate of 67.6 percent. Dubai Natural Gas Company Limited recycled approximately 50,053 cubic metres of treated wastewater, establishing an 18.2 percent recycling and reuse rate.
Resource recovery programmes have transferred approximately 3,273 tonnes of slops to approved recycling and recovery contractors in 2025. Targeted water-saving technologies have been implemented at industrial facilities, including a sophisticated water purification and softening system at Dubai Lubricants Processing Plant, anticipated to generate approximately AED15,000 in annual savings.
Hussain Sultan Lootah, Group Chief Executive Officer, emphasised that water security and responsible resource management remain fundamental to the long-term resilience and competitiveness of the energy and industrial sectors, underscoring ENOC’s commitment to practical solutions that expand water reuse, minimise waste and maximise operational efficiency. The Group’s participation at the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition 2026 provides a platform to demonstrate its sustainability progress and exchange expertise supporting the UAE’s long-term water security and sustainability ambitions, aligned with the UAE Water Security Strategy 2036.
