Experimental Photography Workshops at Manarat Al Saadiyat
An extraordinary afternoon of artistic exploration awaits as Manarat Al Saadiyat presents four experimental and interactive photography workshops, each led by Spectrum artists and designed to illuminate fresh perspectives on the photographic arts. Participants are invited to venture beyond conventional boundaries and discover innovative approaches to image making, encompassing explorations of identity and personal memory, the liberating possibilities of camera-less photography, the tactile process of image transfer, and the boundless realm of digital image creation.
The programme unfolds within Gallery M at Manarat Al Saadiyat, where guests encounter a succession of immersive creative experiences. The first workshop, Identity in Bloom, guided by Khadija Hamid, invites participants to excavate the depths of personal identity and cherished memories through self-portraiture, glass and private photographic imagery, culminating in the creation of a singular visual artwork. This session unfolds in collaboration with Nikon Middle East.
The second offering, Scannograms: Images Without a Camera, led by Mariia Pertseva, introduces the captivating world of photography unshackled from the traditional camera. Through experimentation with scanners, personal photographs and the poetry of everyday objects, participants craft abstract compositions that transcend conventional image making.
The third workshop, Image Transfer onto Wood, conducted by Sultana Al Amiri, guides guests through the transformative process of translating photographic images onto wood, transmuting them into tangible artistic works that bridge the digital and the tactile.
The final session explores digital image making, introducing participants to the infinite creative possibilities of contemporary photographic practice. Throughout these four sessions, guests engage with diverse techniques, materials and approaches, each designed to expand perceptions of how we see and create through photography.
The workshops take place on Friday, 23 October 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Entry is complimentary, with registration required upon arrival.
