Federal Tax Authority Convenes Second Emirates Majalis Session in Dubai

The Federal Tax Authority has held an open community dialogue at Al Barsha Majlis as part of its initiative to foster direct communication and enhance tax awareness across the emirate.

The Federal Tax Authority has convened the second session of its Emirates Majalis initiative, an endeavour designed to cultivate meaningful dialogue between the organisation and the communities it serves. The gathering, held at Al Barsha Majlis in Dubai, exemplifies the Authority’s commitment to establishing enduring channels of communication with diverse segments of society and stakeholders concerned with the tax system throughout the United Arab Emirates.

Abdulaziz Al Mulla, Director-General of the Federal Tax Authority, addressed attendees with an invitation for customers and members of society to contribute their insights and recommendations towards the sustainable advancement of the Authority’s services. This collaborative approach supports the organisation’s broader initiatives, including the third cycle of the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, a comprehensive effort to redesign customer experiences, enhance operational efficiency and simplify administrative procedures.

The Emirates Majalis initiative, which commenced earlier in 2026 under the evocative slogan “Closer to Each Other”, represents a deliberate shift towards fostering a culture of constructive community engagement. The programme seeks to elevate tax awareness, provide an interactive platform for discussion and create opportunities for community members to address enquiries and explore solutions to challenges encountered during tax transactions.

During the session, Al Mulla underscored the significance of continuous dialogue between the Authority and all societal segments, emphasising that stakeholder perspectives and contributions are fundamental to the organisation’s developmental aspirations. He highlighted the Authority’s steadfast commitment to involving members of the community in the ongoing refinement of tax systems and procedures, demonstrating a genuine receptiveness to feedback and suggestions from all quarters of society.

The agenda encompassed topics of particular relevance to UAE Nationals, encompassing the role of Emirati Tax Agents in advancing the tax framework, procedures pertaining to Value Added Tax refunds on residential construction, and guidance initiatives for Emirati entrepreneurs managing small and medium-sized enterprises. The Director-General reaffirmed the Authority’s dedication to cultivating relationships of trust and mutual respect, stressing that responsive listening to citizens’ perspectives is essential to designing tax services that align with community expectations and aspirations.

The session generated substantial engagement, with attendees raising enquiries and articulating challenges relating to tax procedures and transactions. The Authority’s specialised teams provided comprehensive responses and support, demonstrating the practical benefits of direct dialogue in addressing community needs and concerns.

The Emirates Majalis programme will extend throughout October and November 2026, with forthcoming sessions scheduled for Salem bin Loutia Al Ameri Majlis in Al Ain on 24 October, followed by Al Rahmaniya Suburb Council in Sharjah on 27 October, and Hilal Zayed Al Shehhi Majlis in Abu Dhabi on 3 November.
