Fujairah charts new trade pathways with Japanese business community

The emirate's Department of Industry & Economy welcomes JETRO delegation to explore supply chain opportunities and logistics capabilities amid growing Japanese interest in diversifying Middle Eastern operations

Fujairah is positioning itself as a critical nexus in the evolving global supply chain conversation, as the emirate’s Department of Industry & Economy met recently with representatives from the Japan External Trade Organisation to discuss deepening economic ties and facilitate a forthcoming visit by Japanese business leaders.

The meeting, led by Mohammed Obaid bin Majed Al Aleeli, Director-General of the Department of Industry & Economy in Fujairah, focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation whilst preparing a comprehensive programme of site visits for the Japanese delegation. These visits will encompass the Port of Fujairah and key ports along the east coast, allowing Japanese business representatives to assess capabilities and services that underpin regional and international trade flows.

Japanese companies are increasingly seeking alternative logistics routes and more resilient supply chain arrangements to support their expansion throughout the Middle East. Fujairah, with its strategic geographical position and sophisticated logistics infrastructure, offers a compelling answer to this need. The emirate’s commitment to facilitating such partnerships reflects a broader recognition of how supply chain diversification strengthens business continuity and operational resilience across the region.

The Department of Industry & Economy has reaffirmed its dedication to supporting Japanese companies and institutions, drawing on Fujairah’s established role as a vital logistics and trade hub. The upcoming business delegation visit represents a tangible expression of this commitment, offering Japanese stakeholders direct access to the facilities, expertise and strategic advantages that distinguish Fujairah as a preferred hub for regional and international commerce.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

This development underscores the UAE’s broader success in diversifying its international business relationships and positioning its emirates as essential partners in global supply chain networks. As Japanese companies strengthen their Middle Eastern operations, Fujairah’s role as a logistics centre enhances the federation’s competitive advantage in attracting investment and facilitating trade.

The initiative also reflects the UAE’s commitment to fostering meaningful economic cooperation with Japan, a relationship that continues to deepen across multiple sectors. By welcoming Japanese business delegations and facilitating their understanding of regional logistics capabilities, the UAE reinforces its reputation as an open, business-friendly destination that values partnership and mutual prosperity.
