India’s Agricultural Authority Praises UAE Leadership in Global Food Security

A senior Indian official has commended the Emirates' strategic initiatives in advancing international food cooperation, highlighting the nation's pivotal role in building resilient global food systems during Global Food Week.
Abu Dhabi has received recognition from India’s agricultural sector for its leading role in fostering international collaboration on food security and sustainable food systems. Dr. C.B. Singh, Deputy Director General at the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, offered his commendation during the Indian Pavilion’s participation at Global Food Week, currently underway in the capital.
The prestigious event, organised by ADNEC Group in strategic partnership with the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), operates under the theme “Building Scalable Food Futures Together” and represents a convergence of policy dialogue, innovation and commercial opportunity. The exhibition has attracted 2,580 exhibitors representing 92 nations, reflecting the breadth of global interest in advancing agricultural and food production methodologies.
Dr Singh emphasised the significance of India’s participation, underscoring the enduring partnership between the two nations and the expanding potential for deepening cooperation across food trade, agricultural commodities and food security initiatives. The Indian delegation comprises approximately 10 exhibitors and five major trade associations spanning critical segments of the food and agriculture sector, encompassing rice, fresh produce, and horticultural specialities, alongside representatives from farming communities and producers.
India’s agricultural output encompasses a comprehensive portfolio of commodities, including grains, dairy products, fresh fruit and vegetables, processed foods and animal products. The nation’s participation at Global Food Week seeks to demonstrate these capabilities whilst establishing pathways for companies and producers to access and engage with the UAE market.
The official identified food security, food corridors and logistics supply chains as paramount areas for bilateral cooperation, particularly given contemporary challenges affecting international supply networks. He advocated for the development of collaborative solutions that secure the reliable flow of food products whilst optimising supply and demand efficiencies between India and the Emirates.
Dr Singh further recognised the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its food ecosystem and advancing food security resilience. He acknowledged that Global Food Week’s distinctive position—combining strategic policy discussions with a comprehensive trade exhibition enabling direct business engagement—establishes it as a singular platform uniting dialogue, governance and commercial enterprise.
