Japan’s Justice Minister Reaffirms Comprehensive Partnership with UAE

Takashi Yamashita, Japan's Minister of Justice, has emphasised the strength and breadth of bilateral relations between Japan and the United Arab Emirates across all sectors, particularly within the sphere of law and justice.

At the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, held in Abu Dhabi, Japan’s Justice Minister Takashi Yamashita underscored the depth of his nation’s partnership with the Emirates. Leading Japan’s delegation to the significant global forum, Minister Yamashita spoke to the Emirates News Agency about the multifaceted nature of bilateral relations.

“Relations with the UAE encompass many areas, including law and justice,” the Minister stated, emphasising the comprehensive character of the two nations’ engagement. He expressed gratification at Japan’s participation in the prestigious international congress, which draws together global leaders and specialists in criminal justice policy.

The congress represents a critical opportunity for the international community to address contemporary challenges to public safety and security. Reflecting on this broader mandate, Minister Yamashita articulated a shared commitment to enhancing global security. “Through the congress, we will seek to make the world safer in light of the major challenges it faces,” he remarked.

The Japanese delegation’s presence at the Abu Dhabi gathering underscores the significance both nations attribute to collaborative approaches to criminal justice reform and international security cooperation.
