M42 and Siemens Healthineers forge partnership to elevate healthcare across the Global South

Two leading healthcare innovators have joined forces to advance transformative care solutions, with a particular emphasis on strengthening disease prevention and earlier detection across Africa and emerging markets.

A significant collaboration between M42 and Siemens Healthineers has been formalised at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit 2026, uniting two distinguished healthcare organisations in a concerted effort to advance healthcare transformation across the Global South. The partnership brings together complementary capabilities in digital health innovation and medical technology, with the shared ambition of enhancing access to quality care in regions where healthcare inequities remain a pressing challenge.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Kareem Shahin, Chief Executive Officer of M42’s Digital Health Solutions Platform and Group Chief Digital Officer, and Dr. Kevin Massoudi, Vice President and Head of Public Sector for Siemens Healthineers in the Middle East and Africa. The collaboration will explore joint value propositions and technology-enabled solutions designed to strengthen disease prevention, screening and earlier detection, whilst enabling proactive approaches to population health management.

Complementary Strengths in Digital Health and Medical Technology

M42 brings extensive expertise in digital health capabilities through Abu Dhabi Health Data Services, encompassing Malaffi, Abu Dhabi’s Health Information Exchange; Sahatna, the emirate’s unified digital health patient portal; and the E-Prescriptions platform. These sophisticated systems are complemented by AI-driven analytics and predictive and personalised care models that enable healthcare providers to identify and respond to patient needs with enhanced precision.

Siemens Healthineers contributes profound expertise in medical imaging, diagnostics, cancer care and minimally invasive therapies, supported by advanced digital technology and artificial intelligence. The company’s comprehensive portfolio of technologies, solutions and services supports healthcare providers across the entire patient pathway, from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up care, with a particular focus on improving access, efficiency and clinical excellence.

Supporting Healthcare Transformation and Prevention

Dimitris Moulavasilis, Group Chief Executive Officer of M42, articulated the partnership’s broader significance: “One of the ways to judge the success of healthcare transformation is by measuring how much health inequities are reduced and people of all backgrounds benefit. M42 is committed to scaling our innovation and sharing our capabilities so that we can partner with public and private sector organisations to overcome healthcare challenges. Our partnership with Siemens Healthineers reflects this ambition, bringing together two organisations with complementary strengths and a shared commitment to advancing more proactive, accessible and sustainable models of care.”

Kareem Shahin added: “This agreement marks an important step in our collaboration with Siemens Healthineers and reflects the complementary strengths of our two organisations. By connecting population-scale digital health, healthcare data and AI with advanced imaging, diagnostics and medical devices, we can explore new ways to strengthen prevention and screening and help health systems act earlier.”

Vivek Kanade, Managing Director of Siemens Healthineers for the Middle East and Africa, emphasised the transformative potential: “By bringing together our capabilities with M42, we have the opportunity to explore solutions that support earlier diagnosis and treatment and more connected care. Our aim is to help elevate healthcare in the UAE and emerging markets, including Africa, while supporting healthcare providers in improving access, efficiency and clinical excellence across the patient pathway.”

Reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s Leadership in Healthcare Innovation

The partnership supports M42’s continued international expansion and its ambition to bring Abu Dhabi-developed health innovation to markets where it can deliver meaningful impact. Africa and the wider Global South have been identified as priority regions for this growth, whilst the collaboration further reinforces Abu Dhabi’s established position as a distinguished hub for AI-driven healthcare innovation with genuine global relevance.
