M42 has introduced Ossi, an advanced multi-agent artificial intelligence clinical platform designed to enhance the relationship between clinicians and patients by streamlining administrative processes and enabling more meaningful engagement at the point of care.
M42 unveiled Ossi during the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit, marking a significant evolution in clinical technology. This next-generation platform represents a thoughtful integration of artificial intelligence and human expertise, engineered to reduce the administrative demands that often divert clinicians from patient interaction.
Built upon Microsoft Azure’s secure cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure, Ossi embodies a philosophy that prioritises meaningful clinician-patient connection without compromising clinical precision. The platform’s name draws inspiration from the ossicles, the delicate bones within the human ear that amplify and refine sound. This elegant metaphor reflects Ossi’s purpose: to listen with remarkable precision and capture clinical information effortlessly, whilst amplifying clinical context through access to previous medical data and evidence-based guidelines.
Activation Across Leading Healthcare Facilities
Ossi has been activated across seven distinguished M42 healthcare facilities throughout the UAE and Bahrain: Amana UAE, Amana Bahrain, Healthpoint, HealthPlus, Mubadala Health Dubai, Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital, and Imperial College London Diabetes Centre in Abu Dhabi. This deployment demonstrates the platform’s readiness for clinical environments of varying scales and specialisations.
Four Intelligent Agents Supporting Clinical Workflows
Ossi launches with four specialised agents, the inaugural offering in an expanding suite of capabilities. The Ambient Scribe Agent transcribes clinical conversations and prepares preliminary documentation for clinician review, liberating time previously devoted to administrative tasks. The Health Record Agent retrieves and synthesises relevant information from electronic medical records, enabling clinicians to review patient context with enhanced clarity. The Clinical Q&A Agent assists clinicians in accessing pertinent clinical information and preparing patient-friendly educational content. Finally, the Coding Agent suggests medical codes based on clinical documentation, subject to appropriate team review.
Seamless Integration and Sophisticated Architecture
The platform’s architecture demonstrates considerable sophistication. Ossi operates as a model-agnostic system, supporting multiple languages and integrating seamlessly with existing electronic medical record systems via Health Level Seven and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources standards, as well as custom APIs. This interoperability ensures that healthcare facilities can implement the platform without requiring extensive modifications to established systems.
Recognising the paramount importance of safeguarding sensitive health information, M42 has ensured Ossi meets the world’s most stringent health data security and privacy standards, with particular attention to enterprise-level compliance with regional data governance regulations, including those required in the UAE.
