M42 Unveils Ossi, Revolutionary AI Clinical Platform Transforming Healthcare Delivery

The pioneering multi-agent artificial intelligence platform launches across leading healthcare facilities throughout the UAE and Bahrain, enabling clinicians to redirect focus towards patient care whilst enhancing evidence-based clinical practice

M42, the globally recognised healthcare organisation distinguished by its advancement in artificial intelligence, technology and genomics, has unveiled Ossi, an innovative multi-agent AI Clinical Platform, during the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit. This transformative technology represents a significant evolution in clinical practice, designed principally to diminish administrative burden, afford clinicians enhanced opportunity to concentrate upon patient care, and amplify the calibre of data-driven, evidence-based healthcare delivery.

Constructed upon Microsoft Azure’s secure cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure, Ossi orchestrates a refined equilibrium between clinical precision and the irreplaceable dimension of human connection. The platform accomplishes this through the elegant reduction of clinical documentation burden and the sophisticated elevation of health data utilisation and evidence-based clinical guidelines precisely at the point of care, all executed through secure ambient intelligence mechanisms.

The platform has commenced operations across seven distinguished M42 healthcare facilities spanning the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, encompassing Amana UAE, Amana Bahrain, Healthpoint, HealthPlus, Mubadala Health Dubai, Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital and the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre in Abu Dhabi.

The nomenclature Ossi derives inspiration from the ossicle bone resident within the human ear, a metaphorical emblem of the platform’s exceptional capacity to listen with meticulous precision and capture clinician information effortlessly. The system augments clinician capability by amplifying clinical context through integration of previous medical data and evidence-based clinical guidelines, whilst maintaining unwavering adherence to requisite standards of patient information security and data privacy.

Ossi liberates clinicians from documentation distractions, thereby facilitating meaningful patient engagement and enhanced clinical outcomes. The platform launches with four distinctly purposed agents, constituting merely the inaugural phase within an expanding constellation of capabilities. The Ambient Scribe Agent transcribes clinical conversations and prepares draft documentation for clinician review; the Health Record Agent retrieves and synthesises pertinent information from electronic medical records, assisting clinicians in reviewing patient context; the Clinical Question and Answer Agent facilitates access to relevant clinical information whilst supporting preparation of patient-friendly educational content; and the Coding Agent suggests appropriate medical codes derived from clinical documentation for professional review.

The architecture embraces language model agnosticism, multilingual functionality and seamless integration with existing electronic medical record systems via Health Level Seven and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources standards or bespoke application programming interfaces.

Dimitris Moulavasilis, Group Chief Executive Officer at M42, articulated the profound significance of this development, stating that Ossi represents not merely novel technology but rather an innovative methodology for practising medicine. Kareem Shahin, CEO of the Digital Health Solutions Platform and Group Chief Digital Officer at M42, characterised Ossi as a considerable advancement in clinical transformation, whilst Elena Bonfiglioli, Global Business Leader and Vice President of Healthcare, Pharma and Life Sciences at Microsoft, affirmed that the platform represents an important milestone within the collaborative partnership between Microsoft and M42.
